KATSEYE Defends Manon Bannerman’s Hiatus After Four Months

KATSEYE won’t – Four months after KATSEYE announced Swiss-Ghanaian member Manon Bannerman’s temporary hiatus, the remaining five members say they won’t rush her return—while also outlining what’s next for the group, including the August EP Wild and upcoming tour dates.
For four months, KATSEYE has been moving forward without Manon Bannerman—and this time, the group is addressing why the timeline for her return hasn’t changed.
The 23-year-old Swiss-Ghanaian entertainer was announced to be taking a temporary hiatus from the girl group back in February. She has yet to return to group activities, even as KATSEYE has continued operating as a six-member unit in public messaging.
During that stretch, the remaining five members—Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae—have stayed busy. They have kept showing up for major moments, including awards show appearances and performing at Coachella.
Now, with Manon still absent, Sophia says the group isn’t trying to force her hand. “Because we did announce that it is about her well-being. it’s not our place or anybody else’s place to rush her. ” Sophia tells Allure. “We want to give her all the time that she needs. all the space that she needs. and so we don’t want to make any assumptions. set anything in stone… She really deserves that and the door is always open.”.
Sophia also acknowledged how her absence has landed with fans. “We love her and the fans love her. The people love her. They love KATSEYE,” she said. “If I was in their place I would be asking too, and so we understand. But what we can say is that we wish that you could just keep extending love and support and patience and all those things. because all of us deserve that. Anybody does.”.
Allure notes that KATSEYE still refers to themselves as a group of six.
The last publicly shared update on Manon’s hiatus came in April. when she reportedly wrote through Weverse DMs: “Thank you so much for all the love and support you’ve been sending my way. I’m really grateful for the patience and kindness everyone has shown during this time,” she said. “HxG and I are having positive conversations and I feel supported. I’m happy and I’m healthy. I’ll share more soon. Thank you for always being there for me.”.
While Manon continues her break, KATSEYE is already shaping what the future looks like for the group. Their next release is their new EP, Wild, which is scheduled to drop in August, followed by their Wildworld Tour.
They’ve also continued their momentum with high-profile collaborations and appearances. Earlier this month, KATSEYE teamed up with LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT for the collab, “ICONIC BY MISTAKE.” And the group has been announced as performers for Olivia Rodrigo’s upcoming Daisy Chain Fields festival.
For fans waiting on Manon’s return, the message from Sophia is clear: the group is keeping its door open, but the pace belongs to her well-being—not to the calendar.
