Queer Eye Ends, Karamo’s “Bullying” Claim Still Lingers

Think the Queer Eye drama is done now that the show is over? Think again. In an interview in People Tuesday, Karamo Brown dished about the “final straw” between himself and the rest of the Queer Eye cast that led to his now infamous refusal to do press for their final season, which was released in January of this year. Instead, Karamo sent personal statements ahead of his castmates’ appearances on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle and CBS Mornings, leaving them to react on camera

in real-time to his claims. The results were…about as messy as one of those houses Bobby had to fix up in Season one. @broadwaysingsforpride Queer Eye’s Karamo abruptly pulled out of a cast interview with CBS Mornings just one hour before airtime, citing fears of being “bullied.” The Queer Eye cast reacted to the move live on the air as Gayle King read his statement. #queereye #gay #television #interview #celebrity ♬ original sound – Broadway Sings For Pride In his statements, Karamo attributed his absence

from the press tour to fears about being “bullied” and a need to “protect [his] peace/mental health.” Juicy stuff coming from the guy whose whole job it was to make people confront past traumas (sometimes by quite literally facilitating a conversation with the person who traumatized them). While the Fab Four kept it professional in the moment, sticking mainly to vague platitudes like “families are complicated” and “two things can be true,” rumors swirled in the aftermath of the clips being posted online. What made

Karamo so angry? What is the “bullying” he’s referring to? What would Show Karamo do to mediate this all? Make them all do a ropes course? Eventually, a story began to emerge: this all came down to a hot mic moment gone very, very wrong. And now, months later, Karamo is confirming that story is true. Speaking to People, Karamo said he could “no longer stay silent about how often [he] was made to feel like an outsider.” He then confirmed the reports that one

day on set, his mom overheard his fellow castmates trash-talking him on hot mics when he’d left the room, and they didn’t realize he could hear. Yikes. It’s one thing to find out your friends talk shit about you the moment you leave the room. It’s another to find out from your mom. According to Karamo, his mom had “tears in her eyes” as she told him what they said, repeating the line “I thought they were your friends.” People then confirmed that it was

JVN, Antoni, and Tan France who were caught talking trash (Bobby replacement Jeremiah Brent has been thus far spared the blight on his name). Now, of course, all this begs the question: what the hell were they talking about? Unfortunately, that’s one bit of the drama we still don’t know. According to People, Karamo “never pushed for details” from his mom about the alleged gossip fest, so he can’t give them to us. Sure, Karamo. Sure. But when you are ready to push for those

details…just know we’re all here and ready to receive them. Amy Poehler got Tom Holland to dance to “Umbrella” again.
