Judge grants five-year restraining order for Sabrina Carpenter

A judge granted Sabrina Carpenter a five-year restraining order against William Applegate, 31, after allegations that he repeatedly showed up at her home and, in May, tried to force his way inside. The order bars him from contacting Carpenter, her sister Sarah
The first thing the order makes clear is how close William Applegate is allowed—none.
In Los Angeles, a judge granted Sabrina Carpenter a restraining order against Applegate, 31, after allegations that he repeatedly showed up at the singer’s home and that, in May, he attempted to force his way inside. The protection runs for five years, set to expire on June 17, 2031.
Under the order, Applegate is barred from contacting Sabrina Carpenter, her sister Sarah Carpenter, and Sarah’s significant other George Smith, who both live with Sabrina Carpenter. He is also prohibited from “disturbing their peace.”
The limits are also physical. Applegate must stay 100 yards away from Sabrina Carpenter, Sarah Carpenter and George Smith, their home, their workplace, and their vehicles. If he doesn’t follow the order. he faces possible penalties including a fine of up to $1. 000. a possible one-year jail sentence. or both.
At the hearing on Wednesday, Applegate appeared in LA. He told the court that he and Sabrina Carpenter were part of a classified military program that required them to “be together as soon as possible” for “national and global security.” He also said he’d be “more than willing” to stay away from Sabrina Carpenter if she told him herself. Sabrina Carpenter was not present.
The restraining order traces back to filings made on May 29. when the “Espresso” artist. 27. sought a civil harassment restraining order against Applegate. In her declaration. she alleged that on May 23. Applegate arrived at her Los Angeles home “unannounced and uninvited. ” then “physically grabbed the lever of my front door and forcefully pushed it down. ” actively trying to force his way inside without any invitation. permission. or consent.
Detective Peter Doomanis of the Los Angeles Police Department wrote that Sabrina Carpenter was “in genuine fear for her personal safety” at the time of the incident. Applegate was released after his May 23 arrest.
But court documents say the situation didn’t end when he was released. Sabrina Carpenter’s private security guards wrote in court docs that Applegate returned to her home on May 24 and May 25.
One detail in the court record describes a pattern that built over time. Hasan Brown. a private security guard for Sabrina Carpenter. wrote in a separate declaration that he noticed Applegate’s vehicle parked near her home on multiple prior occasions beginning sometime after April 19 through at least May 25. Brown said the vehicle was progressively parked in closer proximity to the singer’s residence over time.
The judge’s order now puts a hard line around that history: no contact, no peace-disturbing behavior, and a 100-yard distance from Sabrina Carpenter, her sister and her sister’s partner—along with their home, workplace, and vehicles—through June 17, 2031.

100 yards? That’s wild.
He tried to force his way in?? Like come on. Also this classified military program thing sounds like something you say when you get caught, idk.
Wait so he can’t even contact her sister and her sister’s boyfriend? That seems extreme but also like… if he kept showing up then it makes sense. The 5-year part till 2031 feels forever though.
The judge giving a restraining order for 5 years and then he’s like ‘classified program’?? I don’t buy it. If it’s legit military or whatever then why is he showing up at someone’s house like a random fan. Sounds like the court should have just asked him what branch and then bam done, but maybe I’m missing something.
