Apple TV makes Austrian Grand Prix weekend free in US

For the first time in the United States, Apple TV will stream an entire Formula 1 race weekend free of charge, with full live coverage of the Austrian Grand Prix sessions from June 26 through June 28.
The morning of June 26 usually belongs to a quiet kind of racing fan—someone who gets up early because practice is where the weekend’s real work starts. This time, that work won’t be locked behind a subscription.
Apple TV will stream the entire Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix race weekend for free to U.S. viewers for the first time. The promotion runs from June 26 through June 28 and covers every on-track session, from practice and qualifying to Sunday’s Grand Prix.
Coverage begins June 26 with Practice 1 at 7:30 a.m. Eastern. Practice 2 follows at 11 a.m. On June 27, Practice 3 starts at 6:30 a.m. Eastern, and qualifying begins at 10 a.m. The Austrian Grand Prix itself is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Eastern on June 28.
Apple said this Austrian Grand Prix marks the first time it has made an entire Formula 1 race weekend available free to viewers in the United States. The company has offered free sports programming before. but this push is different in scope: it includes every Formula 1 session across a race weekend. not just a single event.
For fans, the appeal is simple—this weekend is built to be followed start to finish. Practice sessions aren’t just warm-up viewing; they’re where teams test setups and shape race strategy. Qualifying, meanwhile, decides the starting grid and can swing the complexion of the Grand Prix. With Apple opening every session to non-subscribers. viewers get the full arc of the weekend rather than the headline race alone.
Apple’s timing also matters. The promotion lands as Formula 1 continues to draw a larger audience in the United States. A full race weekend typically means access to paid television or streaming services. so for casual viewers who don’t usually track the sport—or who don’t already have the right package—this creates a rare open door.
Apple hasn’t said whether similar free Formula 1 weekends will follow. For now, the Austrian Grand Prix is the first effort to make an entire Formula 1 race weekend available free to U.S. viewers.

So is this just the race or like all weekend??
Apple really out here buying F1 fans with free stuff. Next they gonna make the commercials free too or nah.
If it’s June 26-28 then that’s basically the whole event right? Idk my timezone but they said practice too so I’m assuming no commercials? Also does this mean you can watch on the regular Apple TV app without subscribing or what.
I don’t trust “free” with Apple. Like it says free but then it’s gonna ask for your card anyway. Also Austrian Grand Prix sounds like it’s gonna be on at 9am my time?? Probably not even real.
