Jonathon Cooper Pleads Not Guilty Amid Domestic Violence Case

Denver Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper appeared in a Douglas County courtroom on Monday, entering a not guilty plea through his attorney and seeking a prompt resolution. He did not speak. A motion hearing is scheduled for early next month.
Denver Broncos star Jonathon Cooper walked into a Douglas County courtroom on Monday, expressionless in a black shirt and pants, and faced a brief appearance that offered no public answers—only a clear denial.
Cooper was present as his attorney, Harvey Steinberg, entered a not guilty plea and asked the court for a prompt resolution so the linebacker could return to his day job. Cooper did not speak during the hearing. A motion hearing has been set for early next month.
The case centers on allegations stemming from a domestic violence arrest. Cooper is accused of getting into an altercation with his girlfriend, Jade Fiegen, late Thursday night over apparent cheating suspicions.
During the encounter, Cooper admitted to biting Fiegen’s phone and damaging it. Fiegen told police she lifted her off her feet by the neck and pushed her to the ground. Cooper, however, claimed he braced his neck against Fiegen’s to prevent her from getting his phone.
Both were arrested for criminal mischief and domestic violence and booked in jail.
The weekend brought a different kind of statement—one that arrived in the form of an apology paired with highlighted scripture. In the post. Cooper wrote. “I realize posting a Bible quote right after something very serious happens does not mean everything is okay. I apologize to my family to my friends and my community … and so many others.” He followed with. “Sincerely I apologize. This situation is not who I am.”.
For now, the courtroom step has been narrow but consequential: a not guilty plea, a request to move quickly, and an upcoming motion hearing that will determine what happens next.
