Jelly Roll didn’t wait for a quiet moment after a show.

On Thursday. June 18. while performing at a concert in upstate New York. the country singer went straight at the rumors surrounding his divorce from his wife. Bunnie XO. He told the crowd he wasn’t planning to talk about it that night. but the conversation quickly shifted to what he called the “liars” online.

“While we’re talking about liars, the Internet is a liar too,” Jelly Roll began. He added that it would be the only time—and the only city—he would discuss the situation. Then he doubled down on what he says is the truth: “Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends.”

He said they had spoken earlier that day, explaining, “We just got off the phone earlier today.” Jelly Roll insisted there was no betrayal involved. “Nobody cheated on nobody. She just did a whole podcast about it. You can go watch it. Every word of it is the truth.”

On the show, she described an argument on Mother’s Day, saying she didn’t think the details mattered. “I was so fed up and so tired that I just looked at him and I said, ‘Well, then file the f–king divorce papers,’” Bunnie said.

She also explained why she believes those words landed with weight. “And in our relationship that is the one cardinal thing that you don’t say. ” she added. referring to the fact that Jelly Roll has said it “numerous times ‘cause he’s the runner.” Bunnie said when she makes a statement like that. it’s not meant lightly because she’s “not the type of person who says what I don’t mean.”.

After that conversation, Bunnie said she packed a bag and left their home. She described a week where they went silent. During that gap, Jelly filed for divorce.

Bunnie said Jelly Roll was angry and the two were emotional when he followed through. “During that, he was so mad and we were so emotional that he ended up doing exactly what I told him to do and filing the divorce papers.”

She addressed the question of whether she felt blindsided and whether the divorce was mutual. “Was I blindsided? And was this divorce mutual? No, it was not mutual. Even though I told him to file the divorce papers, I was speaking out of anger and just frustration.”

Still, she said the break ultimately became a kind of wake-up call. “Was it necessary for us to have a wakeup call and to actually start having these real conversations? Absolutely.”

Bunnie also made it clear she had hoped they could work through their differences. “He’s my best friend,” she said. “I don’t care how f–ked up our relationship was—which it wasn’t that f–ked up.” She said that despite the strain and the lack of communication. she felt they deserved a chance to try therapy. “I was riding with this motherf–ker till the wheels fell off. ” Bunnie added. saying she wanted therapy and real conversations.

But she said Jelly Roll didn’t want the same path. “He didn’t feel that way and I respect it. It took me a month and a half now to respect that. But I’m so happy. So, so, so happy.”

Bunnie also confirmed that Jelly Roll is dating again already and said she knows what kind of woman she wants him to be with next.
