JD Vance is pressed on Epstein files delay

Vice President JD Vance faced pointed questioning on “The View” Tuesday morning over the Department of Justice’s release of Epstein-related records, including why more than 2.5 million additional documents have not been shown yet, while he also acknowledged be

Vice President JD Vance stepped onto “The View” Tuesday morning with a question waiting for him—one that didn’t sound like it was going to go away after the commercial break.

Sunny Hostin asked why viewers hadn’t seen the release of “over 2.5 million additional Epstein file documents.” Vance responded, in part, “My understanding, I’m going to check on this to be sure, but my understanding is that a lot of those are duplicates of things that have already been released.”

Hostin’s follow-up pressure landed at the intersection of politics and justice: the show’s questions were tied to the Department of Justice’s release of files related to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The conversation also turned more personal in tone. When asked about the Epstein files, Vance admitted that he was a “conspiracy theorist” on the subject. “I am frankly kind of a conspiracy theorist on the Epstein stuff. and that story says that. ” Vance told the six co-hosts. “That’s one of the things that’s true. is that some people called me a conspiracy theorist on the Epstein stuff.”.

He added another line that put emphasis on the moral stakes of the case. “It’s crazy that you have this guy, who is clearly a sex predator, who is hanging out with a lot of very wealthy and powerful people.”

The episode came as Hostin referenced a June 10 New York Times report about White House fallout over the Epstein files. That report described behind-the-scenes meetings within the Trump administration as officials faced public criticism over delays in releasing records tied to Epstein.

Vance joined Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sarah Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro. ABC said in a press release that Vance and the panelists would discuss his new book. Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith. along with “priorities and goals for the administration and the latest political headlines.”.

For Vance, the “The View” appearance is also part of a broader pattern for the show. He became the third sitting vice president to appear on “The View,” and the program has previously welcomed guests from all sides of the political spectrum.

This wasn’t happening on a quiet news day. U.S. officials are expected to sign a peace deal to end the war in Iran on June 19, and the Epstein records questions arrived in the middle of a busy stretch for the administration.

It also comes at a critical moment for “The View” itself. In February. Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr announced that the commission was taking action against ABC. aligning with equal time rules that require broadcasters to offer equal airtime to political candidates. Carr had previously questioned whether the show qualifies as “bona fide news.”.

The show has also been targeted by Donald Trump. The president has described the hosts as “degenerates” and “dumb women.”

As Vance fielded questions on Epstein documents and the delays surrounding their release, the tension wasn’t just about paperwork. Hostin’s focus on the missing “over 2.5 million additional” documents made the stakes feel immediate—what the public is still waiting to see. and how quickly power. justice. and accountability are allowed to catch up.

  1. I just watched this headline and wow. On The View they acted like it’s no big deal but 2.5 million is a lot. If they already released some, why is it still not all out? Seems shady to me.

  2. Maybe Vance is right though? Like if it’s duplicates then it’s not “new” so they’d delay it. But also… if the Epstein files are real then “duplicates” feels like a cover story. Also why are they always on TV talking about this instead of just releasing everything? (Not saying one way or the other, just confused.)

  3. He said he’s a conspiracy theorist on the Epstein stuff and then talks about sex predators hanging with powerful people… so which is it? Either it’s all been figured out or it’s “conspiracy.” And the DOJ delay is like?? Everybody keeps dodging. I saw a clip too that the NYT said there was White House fallout and now I’m like okay so who’s blocking what, not just “duplicates.”
