Free League Publishing has announced Operation Leading Edge—its new cinematic adventure for ALIEN The Roleplaying Game Evolved Edition—and it’s built to feel like routine orders sliding into something far worse. It’s a complete adventure that can be played on its own. but it also serves as the second installment of the Jeremiah Saga trilogy. Pre-orders are open now, with a release set later this year.
The pitch is specific: players take the roles of a team of Colonial Marines sent to secure a rich mineral deposit on the remote moon Jeremiah VI. The scenario is framed as a “routine drop n’ stop mission.” Then the setup does what the ALIEN universe always does—it makes that confidence feel like a trap before the first turn of the page.
Operation Leading Edge comes with the trappings of a cinematic table. The adventure is designed for 3–5 players plus the Game Mother. There are two huge double-sided maps. each in 34 × 22 inches format. showing the key adventure locations “in great and terrifying detail.” The box also includes five pre-generated characters to choose from. playing cards for personal agendas and NPCs. cardboard tokens for characters and creatures. and both GM maps and player handouts.
The announcement doesn’t stop with the book. Alongside the cinematic adventure, Free League released an accompanying Miniatures Set. It includes 28 mm miniatures of Colonial Marines. enemy troops from the Union of Progressive Peoples (UPP). and a host of Xenomorphs. A simplified rulebook is also included to allow for quick skirmishes with the minis.
For fans building out their tables. the items now sit together in one place: they’re available for pre-order in the Free League webshop. with immediate PDF access ahead of their Q4 release. Along with Operation Leading Edge and the Miniatures Set. the shop is also offering a new dedicated dice tray for the ALIEN RPG and Evolved Editions. Jeremiah VI… isn’t that like, an actual planet? Or did they just name it after that Bible guy? Either way sounds creepy.
Wait the article says “the box includes 5 pre-generated characters” but also says “3–5 players plus the Game Mother” so like is the Game Mother the referee? Or is she one of the characters?? I’m confused. Also xenomorphs AND UPP?? That seems random.
I don’t get why they need TWO big maps like every time. Isn’t that just extra paper costs. But the pre-order for PDF right away… that part is probably why I’m broke now lol. If the “routine drop n’ stop mission” is just the intro then the rest is gonna be nonstop panic right?
