Jason Momoa dodges doorframe at Supergirl premiere

Jason Momoa stepped into the spotlight in London for the June 18 premiere of “Supergirl” in Leicester Square, attended with Adria Arjona and his children. The trip kept a lighter edge: an ITV studio visit on June 19 turned into an almost-comical moment when he

Jason Momoa arrived in London with the kind of momentum that makes a red carpet feel less like an event and more like a rush you can hear in your own chest.

On June 18. the 46-year-old actor attended the premiere of the upcoming movie “Supergirl” in Leicester Square. the heart of the city’s entertainment district. He showed up in a dark grey suit and waistcoat, and he wasn’t alone. Momoa was joined by his son Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, 17, and his daughter Lola Iolani Momoa, 18. His girlfriend, Adria Arjona—who stars in “Blink Twice”—was also at his side.

The family’s coordinated look leaned into chic dark outfits, while Arjona brought color in a bright red dress. Momoa and his children share their bond with ex-wife Lisa Bonet. and the night carried the visible warmth of that mix of family and new partnership. Momoa had soft-launched his relationship with Arjona in May 2024.

Arjona’s background is part of the story the public has been following too: she is the daughter of Ricardo Arjona, a best-selling Latin American artist widely recognized for his commercial success across the region.

The movie itself is built for spectacle and quick stakes. “Supergirl” premieres June 26 and is set around a three-day mission: Supergirl has to obtain a cure for her superdog and friend, Krypto, who has been poisoned by the villainous alien Krem of the Yellow Hills, played by Matthias Schoenaerts.

Momoa plays intergalactic bounty hunter “Lobo,” a character who clashes with Supergirl. Supergirl is played by Milly Alcock, who wore a white dress for the Thursday premiere. In the background of all the flash. there was also a reminder that Momoa’s persona has long been tethered to intensity—so the lighter moments that followed in the next day’s appearances landed with extra punch.

On Friday, June 19, Momoa arrived at Britain’s ITV television studios for an interview. He nearly took the doorframe off as he entered, almost accidentally turning a routine arrival into a split-second headline moment. During the interview, he described the role as “a dream” and said he loves playing the antihero.

“I was obsessed with these comics when I was a little kid,” he told the hosts. “It’s very surreal.”

Even the city itself seemed ready to meet him where the moment was headed. A London bar that overlooks the red carpet launched a new beverage just in time for Thursday’s premiere: a giant fishbowl mimosa named “Jason Mamosa.”

For fans in the crowd, the excitement came with a personal thread running underneath it. Momoa previously came close to death in a surfing accident in Hawaii back in 2007, when he nearly drowned while out surfing—an earlier chapter that makes his current public energy feel earned, not manufactured.

The premiere and the days around it leave one clear picture: this is Hollywood spectacle. but it’s also familiar to the people watching—family by his side. a relationship still unfolding in public. and a star who keeps meeting the moment head-on. even when it involves a doorframe that didn’t stand a chance.
