A rescue unfolded on Cannon Cliff in Franconia, New Hampshire, when a fall left a climber injured—and crews had to reach him quickly and carefully.

The incident happened Tuesday at about 10 a.m., after reports came in that a climber was hurt on the cliff. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department said the information provided indicated the climber was injured when a rock he was climbing was dislodged from the cliff, causing him to fall.

After crews responded, they reached the climber at about noon. He was then carried down to the parking lot in a litter, with the team arriving shortly after 2 p.m.

From there, he was taken to Littleton Regional Hospital for treatment.

Officials said, “Thankfully, [his] climbing equipment worked well, which likely prevented more serious injuries.”
