Hull man dies after apparent drowning off Nantucket Beach

Hull man – A 76-year-old man from Hull, identified as Robert Nolan, died after an apparent drowning off the coast of Nantucket Beach on Wednesday evening. Authorities said no foul play is suspected.

A report of an unresponsive man floating in the water set off an urgent response off the coast of Nantucket Beach on Wednesday evening—an effort that ended with a man pronounced dead just before 9 p.m.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s office said authorities were called after a 76-year-old man from Hull was found unresponsive, floating in the water near Nantucket Beach. The DA’s office identified the man as Robert Nolan.

Nolan was pronounced dead around 8:40 p.m., according to the DA’s office. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner transported his body to their office for examination.

Authorities said no foul play is suspected.

  1. No foul play is suspected but like… how does a guy just end up floating? I feel like they should check everything. Also 76 is old but still, sad.

  2. Wait so he was found unresponsive floating like in the harbor? Or was it just off Nantucket Beach? I saw another post say rip currents are crazy out there, so maybe that? Either way hope they figure out what happened.

  3. This is why I hate when people act like the beach is “safe.” If authorities say no foul play then cool I guess, but drowning is drowning. Who was even watching for him if he was out there? Seems like one of those freak things that happens fast, sadly.
