Britney Spears’ sons recall her nerve-calming advice

Sean Preston and Jayden James walked into the Vetements Menswear Spring/Summer 2027 show on June 26 knowing their mother was watching from afar—nervous, supportive, and determined to steady them before the cameras turned on.
In a Vogue interview published July 2, the brothers described what Britney Spears, 44, told them ahead of their runway moment after she’d been feeling uneasy about their appearance. Jayden James recalled how she helped pull the fear down to size.
“Oh my god, she was so nervous for us,” James told the outlet. “She was just looking out for us and making sure that this was what we wanted to do. She wasn’t there with us. but she sent us flowers to our hotel as a good luck thing. and called and texted us so many times. It was good to have that and to carry that with us before we went out there.”.
James said Spears also offered a direct reminder of confidence—an affirmation tied to who they were, not what the runway demanded. He described her advice as simple and personal: “Yeah, you guys are my sons. You’ve got this.”
The brothers said they managed to translate that reassurance into performance. James admitted he felt stiff and nervous in the moment. but he still sees the experience as something he can build on. He told the outlet that he is definitely interested in doing another fashion show and said. “I feel like I could do better. since this was my first fashion show and everything. I could master my walk better.”.
Their next question—whether modeling is a real path or a one-time detour—didn’t come with a perfect answer. Future modeling gigs remain uncertain, but the brothers were clear about their priorities.
After being around the process. James said he enjoyed watching how an entire show comes together. even if it isn’t yet his central passion. “After being in that environment, I love it so much — seeing how a whole show is put together. But I don’t know if it’s something that I would pursue or not. I don’t know if it’s something that I’m super passionate about. but I know I had a lot of fun doing it. ” he said.
Preston pointed back to music as the anchor for their lives and their identity. “Music is the foundation of everything for me. Jayden and I have done music our whole lives, and we definitely gravitate towards that more than anything else,” he said.
The runway itself carried the kind of star power that turns a first appearance into a spotlight. At the Vetements show, North West—daughter of Kim Kardashian and Ye (formerly Kanye West)—was present, along with Colombian sensation Maluma and actor Sharon Stone.
Preston’s look at the event included a satin blazer overcoat over a button-up shirt and tie, paired with jeans. James wore a white tank top, jeans, a leather belt, and a dangling chain.
James also had a fashion stop before Paris, attending the Dior Cruise Show in Los Angeles on May 13.
The family backdrop remains part of the public record as well. Spears shares her sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline. In October, Federline published his memoir titled “You Thought You Knew,” covering the former couple’s three-year marriage, divorce, and custody battle over their children.
For Sean Preston and Jayden James. though. the thread running through their Paris debut isn’t just the clothes or the lineup—it’s the moment their mother reached across distance to steady them before they stepped out. In their telling, that call and those flowers weren’t a publicity detail. They were the nerves, handled—one message at a time—until runway confidence finally caught up.
