orange-level heat – Morocco’s meteorology directorate has issued an orange-level alert for another strong heat wave from Saturday through Tuesday, with temperatures reaching up to 44°C in multiple provinces. Storms, fog, and stronger winds are also expected to follow alongside th
Tantan felt it again before the forecasts even finished: another stretch of oppressive heat is on the way.
The Directorate General of Meteorology has warned of a strong heat wave across Morocco starting Saturday and expected to last until Tuesday. The warning carries an orange-level alert because of both the intensity and the wide spread of the hot weather. In many parts of the country, temperatures are expected to climb into a range of 37°C to 44°C.
The hottest conditions—between 41°C and 44°C—are forecast for Morocco’s southern and southeastern provinces. That includes Laayoune, Dakhla, Smara, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, Aousserd, Tarfaya, Tan-Tan, Taroudant, and Tata. For much of the rest of Morocco’s inland and central areas. the forecast calls for temperatures between 37°C and 41°C. Those areas include Marrakech, Fez, Meknes, Kenitra, Khouribga, Settat, Beni Mellal, Khenifra, El Kelaa des Sraghna, and other surrounding provinces.
Coastal life won’t offer much of a break, either. Cities such as Casablanca, Mohammedia, El Jadida, Safi, and Essaouira are also expected to experience hot weather, with temperatures ranging from 34°C to 37°C.
Even as temperatures hold, the weather picture is expected to shift. From Saturday. unstable conditions are forecast to develop. with local thunderstorms expected over the Atlas Mountains. the Rif. the Saiss region. and parts of the eastern high plateaus. Some of those storms may push toward western areas and the phosphate plateaus. Morning and nighttime fog is also expected along northern and central coastal areas.
Wind is another concern. Conditions are expected to strengthen in several regions, especially in northern areas such as Tangier, and in the southern provinces, where winds may lead to local dust lifting.
The heat is not expected to peak and vanish at once. Temperatures are expected to rise again from Monday. followed by a gradual drop beginning on Wednesday across most regions of Morocco. Meteorologists say cooler and more stable conditions should return midweek. bringing relief after several days of intense temperatures affecting large parts of the country.

44C already?? That’s insane.
Wait so the orange alert means it’s like a hurricane thing? Or just hot? Either way people should just stay inside.
I don’t get it, they say storms and fog too like that’s gonna “cool it down.” Fog is not cooling, it’s just gross. Also 44 in the south… my cousin in Laayoune said it was already hot last week so this feels late.
So basically Morocco is gonna be 104 degrees and then randomly dust storms?? Sounds like the same pattern every year, just new colors on the alert. I read something about Tangier winds and thought it was like, coming here or something, but idk. Hope they at least warn tourists bc nobody plans for that.
