hazardous heat – “Hazardous” heat is forecast across the Southeast through Sunday, June 14, with temperatures well into the 90s and near 100 degrees plus punishing humidity. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee warned people without adequate cooling or hydration to stay

For many parts of the Southeast, the weekend isn’t just hot — it’s set to be hazardous. Heat advisories from the National Weather Service in Tallahassee. Florida. warn that dangerously high conditions are expected through Sunday. June 14. with temperatures surging well into the 90s and near 100 degrees.

The forecast comes with humidity that can make the air feel far hotter than the thermometer suggests. In its guidance. the National Weather Service said that. because of the heat. people without access to adequate cooling or hydration should take actions such as staying indoors in A/C or shade. staying hydrated. or taking frequent breaks.

Elsewhere, the shift is more of a reprieve. A cold front is expected to push cooler and drier air into the eastern U.S. on Saturday, according to NOAA’s Weather Prediction Center. Even with that change, highs are still expected to run well into the 80s to lower 90s.

For the region, this weekend also marks a turning point. These conditions are described as among the first truly hot days in the Southeast this year. The Weather Prediction Center cautioned that early season heat can often be more dangerous and bring a higher risk of heat-related illness.

Across the upper Midwest and around the Great Lakes, the story flips again — not with heat, but with cold. “The flow out of the northwest is straight from the Arctic: cool and dry,” Weather Trader meteorologist Ryan Maue said in an email. He added that it’s “a very intense trough for mid-June.”

The National Weather Service said temperatures will dip into the 40s at night across much of the upper Midwest on Saturday night.

The weekend’s contrast is stark: hazardous heat spreading across the Southeast while Arctic-sourced air settles over the Midwest, and a more moderate pattern plays out farther east where a cold front brings relief from humidity even as temperatures remain warm.

  1. So it’s hazardous heat through June 14… but they say cold front Saturday? like how does that work if it’s still hot lol. Also why do they always warn “stay hydrated” like folks don’t know?

  2. They’re saying Arctic air in the Midwest but that’s probably because of those same jets or whatever they talk about on TikTok. Either way, I don’t trust the forecast, it’ll change last minute. My cousin in Florida said it’ll be 110 easy.

  3. I hate when the article says “first truly hot days this year” like that makes it okay?? Early heat is always the worst for heat sickness, especially if you work outside. Wish they’d add like, if you’re without A/C what do you do exactly. Shade breaks aren’t enough when the humidity is cooking you.
