The 911 call starts with panic and confusion—right after Austin Metcalf is stabbed at an April 2025 high school track meet in Frisco, Texas.
In the background, Karmelo Anthony can be heard begging Metcalf to stay alive while CPR is performed until paramedics arrive. The audio also picks up the crowd’s raw reaction as the teen fights for his life.
A man calling 911 tells the dispatcher at first that Austin doesn’t appear to be breathing. Then the caller revises himself, saying the teen was able to gather some air, but that he wasn’t conscious. As the call continues. the group around Austin is heard trying to keep pressure on his chest wound. with one person telling him to stay with them.
Later in the audio, the bystanders’ efforts shift into louder urgency. Someone repeatedly yells “Fight through,” and others urge him back—“Come on, Austin”—as CPR continues.
Despite the quick response from those nearby, Metcalf was taken to a local hospital, where he ultimately died.
After the incident, Anthony was arrested for— and later convicted of—Metcalf’s murder. The case has also included the release of other videos tied to the investigation, including body cam footage showing Anthony sobbing to cops and insisting Metcalf put his hands on him.
During Anthony’s trial, his lawyers argued that he acted in self-defense at the track meet. The jury convicted him anyway.
Metcalf was 17 years old.

Wow that 911 call is terrifying. Self-defense my butt.
I don’t even understand how someone can hear him not breathing and still do nothing. Also the part about Karmelo Anthony “begging” sounds crazy like, was he even involved or what? Just sad all around.
It says CPR was being done but then they still took him to the hospital… so like why not just keep going, you know? And if the lawyers said self defense, what, he stabbed him then started yelling “fight through”? That seems like it’s both at once.
This is one of those stories that makes you wonder what the crowd was doing before he got stabbed. I saw something about body cam too and him sobbing, but people always fake cry for sympathy, so idk. I just hate that poor Austin was 17 and it turned into murder at a track meet of all places.
