Harry Kane balances record goals with family life

From a secretive, years-long romance that started in east London schools to a £30million move to Germany, Harry Kane’s life off the pitch is built around Kate and four young children—plus the dogs who keep showing up in their posts. He’s even said dating would

When Harry Kane plays, the world watches for goals. When he’s not—his focus tightens to the people at home.

On Wednesday evening. the 32-year-old helped England reach the round of 16 after scoring two goals in the second half of the match against Congo. It’s another milestone in a career packed with records for club and country. But off the pitch. Kane’s priority has long been Kate and their four children—keeping their family life as steady and out of the spotlight as possible.

Kane and Kate Goodland have been together since they were teenagers, meeting while attending Larkswood Primary School. Both went on to study at Chingford Foundation School in Waltham Forest, the same school that also produced David Beckham. As teenagers, Harry and Kate were even pictured alongside Beckham, years before Kane captained England.

Kane has spoken before about how rare that kind of certainty feels. He previously admitted that if he was single now. dating would be far more difficult—because it would be impossible to know whether someone was interested in him for the right reasons. Speaking to the Evening Standard. Kane said: “If I was single now and meeting people. you’d never know if they were with you for the right reasons. Is it the money?. You’d never really know. So I’m lucky that I’ve got a childhood sweetheart.”.

That long relationship didn’t lead to a public whirlwind—at least not when it came to marriage. After dating for more than a decade, Kane proposed during a holiday in the Bahamas in 2017. The couple announced their engagement on social media with a photograph showing Kate displaying her ring on the beach.

Two years later, in June 2019, they married during an intimate ceremony at an undisclosed location. Neither Harry nor Kate revealed where the wedding took place, choosing instead to keep the celebrations private. They did share several photographs from the day with fans online. including a moment where Harry lifted up his bride as he kissed her on a jetty into the ocean. Kate wore a fitted Ralph and Russo gown featuring a sweetheart neckline. an embellished bodice and a fishtail skirt with a long train.

For the evening, she changed into a second gown with a V-neck, sheer detailing and delicate floral embroidery.

Their family expanded quickly—and with each arrival, Kane’s off-pitch world became even more defined.

Their eldest daughter, Ivy Jane Kane, was born in January 2017, only months before Kane captained England for the first time. Their second daughter, Vivienne Jane Kane, followed in August 2018. Their first son, Louis Harry Kane, arrived in December 2020.

In August 2023, they welcomed their fourth child: another son, Henry Edward Kane. Kane shared the news on Instagram writing: “Welcome to the world Henry Edward Kane. 20/8/2023. Love you baby boy!”

The family’s home life also includes two Labrador dogs, Brady and Wilson, who regularly feature in social media posts.

Kane has repeatedly spoken about what matters most once the stadium empties. In an interview with SoccerBible, he said: “Being a dad and a husband is the most important part of my life.”

That sentiment has shaped their biggest recent change too: the move from England to Germany after Kane completed his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023.

For a family used to life in England, it was a major shift. Kane initially moved to Germany on his own while preparations were made for Kate and the children to join him. The family eventually relocated to Bavaria and now live in a luxury home in one of Munich’s most exclusive residential areas.

The move also meant leaving behind their £17 million London home from Kane’s Tottenham career—complete with its own gym, cinema room and entertainment spaces.

Kane has described the transition as smoother than expected. Speaking to The Guardian, he said the children had settled into school, had already enjoyed skiing, and the family had started building friendships with teammates’ families and other parents.

Their new place comes with a price tag that matches the scale of the decision: the couple moved into a £30million mansion in Germany. Their home is located in an area described as the “Beverly Hills of Bavaria.” Kane is estimated to pocket £400. 000 a week at Bayern Munich. with performance-related bonuses not included in that figure. That puts his base rate at £21.6m per year.

The house is reportedly set on the edge of a forest with views over the river, and it includes its own spa. It has previously been lived in by ex-Bayern stars Mehmet Scholl and Lucas Hernandez.

Neighbours have noticed the family element behind the fame. The Mirror spoke to one of their neighbours, Renate Lindner, who said: “He has a lovely family. I have seen him in the street to say hello. I love football so I knew straight away who it was. He was very polite and I wanted to make him feel welcome here.”.

Kane’s net worth stands at over £100m, exceeding Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, described as one of the most iconic and talented English players of all time.

Even in that whirlwind. Kate has her own identity beyond being “Harry Kane’s wife.” After studying sports science at university. she qualified as a personal trainer. Fitness remains one of her passions, and she occasionally shares workouts and healthy lifestyle advice with her followers on Instagram.

She has also backed charitable projects connected to the Harry Kane Foundation. She previously collaborated with jewellery brand Loquet London to create a special collection aimed at raising money for the foundation’s work promoting positive mental health among children and young people.

For Kane, the big headline moments may happen on the pitch. But the quieter details—heart emojis used to keep the four children out of the spotlight, the careful privacy around his wedding, the effort to make school and friendships work in a new country—sit underneath everything.

The England forward who can change a match with two late goals is still trying to do the same thing at home: keep life steady, keep it close, and make sure the people he loves come first.

  1. I don’t get why they’re making a whole deal about who he dated in school. Like congrats, you kept it private? Also Congo?? Thought that was a different thing. Maybe I’m mixing stories.

  2. “Dating would”?? The article cuts off right there, lol. But either way, it says he’s got four kids and dogs showing up on posts, which is cute I guess. Still, scoring record goals is the main thing, the family stuff feels like PR padding to me.

  3. East London schools and he was even pictured with Beckham, that’s wild. Makes me think he’s been famous forever. And the move to Germany for £30 million, that’s like… the real story, not the kids. But I also like that he’s not in the spotlight? Confusing.
