Cam Jordan agrees to stay, Justin Reid praises
Cam Jordan has agreed to a contract to remain with the New Orleans Saints for a 16th season, with Justin Reid calling the return “huge for the culture” as the team looks ahead to 2026.
Cam Jordan’s next chapter in New Orleans is no longer a question mark. After some time, the defensive end and the Saints agreed on a contract that will keep the veteran in the Big Easy for a 16th season.
Jordan has said that will also be his final year in the NFL, but the return isn’t being treated like a ceremonial farewell. Speaking on SiriusXM NFL Radio, safety Justin Reid framed the deal as a foundational move for the Saints as they try to build what comes next in 2026.
Reid said Jordan is one of the first people that comes to mind when you think of the Saints. He connected Jordan’s impact to more than what happens on game day, calling him a “hard worker” who remains productive going into “Year 15-16, whatever it is.”
“Huge for the culture of the team, hard worker, still productive going into Year 15-16, whatever it is,” Reid said. “I think that aside from his production on the field. which he still has a healthy engine running. I think that he’s so good for the defensive line and the defense in general just by bringing that veteran leadership. that consistency. Having a Hall of Fame guy in the locker room that guys can bounce questions off of. they know what it looks like. ‘Hey, if I want to play this long, it looks like Cam Jordan. Do what he does.’”.
On the field. Jordan’s 10.5 sacks last season give the Saints something tangible to lean on in what could become a meaningful swan song. Reid’s point about leadership and consistency lands alongside that production. because the Saints aren’t just bringing back a recognizable name—they’re bringing back a defensive end who can still change a game.
For New Orleans. the timing adds a second layer of urgency: Jordan’s final season could also bring the Saints their first trip to the playoffs since 2020. Reid’s message on SiriusXM NFL Radio made the stakes feel immediate—Jordan isn’t returning only to be remembered. but to shape how the defense looks. works. and believes as the team turns toward 2026.

Cam Jordan staying is cool I guess, but 2026 playoffs still feels like a stretch.
“Huge for the culture” sounds like something they say every year 😅. Like culture don’t stop the pass rush.
So wait is this 16th season counting as his last year or like he’s staying forever? The article says “final year” but also “doesn’t feel like a farewell” which makes zero sense to me. Either way 10.5 sacks is solid.
I love Cam Jordan but I don’t get how keeping one guy is “foundational” for 2026 lol. Saints been trying to make playoffs since forever, and it’s always the same excuses. If they don’t fix the secondary then Jordan or not, they’ll just get cooked. Also “Year 15-16 whatever it is” like bro can’t even say the number.
