Google Photos expands Create tab with “New for you”

Google Photos is reportedly bringing AI-generated collages, remixed images, animations, and cinematic photos into a new “New for you” section inside the Create tab—separating them from the Memories carousel and tightening shared preference controls. The update

The next time you open Google Photos, the Create tab could start looking a lot more like the place where your AI edits live.

In a recent update. details spotted inside the app point to a new “New for you” section being added within the Create tab. The goal seems straightforward: automatically surfaced creations—collages. remixed images. animations. and cinematic photos—would get their own dedicated space rather than being buried in the Memories carousel where users currently find this kind of output.

For users who already see these edits in Memories, this wouldn’t be a new type of creation. The feature appears to be about where those existing AI-generated results show up. Instead of swiping through Memories to find the latest automations, Google Photos may start spotlighting them directly in Create.

That shift comes with a second change that matters just as much: preference controls. The app may merge the settings that control automatically generated creations between Memories and the Create tab. If you turn off automatically generated creations in one place. that choice would carry over everywhere—reducing the chance of “AI edits everywhere” clutter for people who don’t want them showing up continuously.

The same update trail also suggests Google is working on a broader set of video styling options. New video editor filters are appearing in Highlight video tools. with names including Aura. Linen. Amber. Glow. Pacific. and Silver—along with Thrift. Candy. Reel. Petal. and Warm. These appear to be added as filters for both the video editor and Highlight videos.

Taken together, it looks like Google Photos is trying to make its Create tab more than a seldom-used menu. The app has been moving in that direction for a while—evolving from a cloud backup service into a lightweight creative space with automatic improvements and AI-powered editing tools. plus more deliberate organization.

If “New for you” lands widely, the Create tab could become the central spot for quick, aesthetic AI edits and fast video styling—less scattered than Memories, and more responsive to the choices users have already made about what they want to see.

  1. So now they’re putting AI collages in a different tab? Just let me delete stuff without it reappearing.

  2. I don’t even use “Memories” like that, but if it’s all gonna be in Create now then cool I guess. The part where turning off AI edits carries over is the only good thing.

  3. Wait, so is “New for you” like it’s automatically generating stuff from your face??? Because my friend said Google does that. I haven’t looked though, but if that’s the case then nah.

  4. Those filter names (Aura, Amber, Glow, Pacific, Silver, whatever) sound like fake luxury cologne not video settings. Also why is it “tightening shared preference controls” like I asked for more settings, I just want my photos to stay put.
