Among the feature prizes, Rafael Manuel’s “Filipiñana” took home the New Directors Award.. The film. which debuted at Sundance earlier in the year. arrives in August from Kino Lorber. and its recognition came alongside an additional honorable mention for the director’s work. with Walter Thompson-Hernández’s “If I Go Will They Miss Me” also recognized in the New Directors category.

Shortly after. the Kirby Walker Documentary Award went to Carolina González Valencia’s “How to Clean a House in 10 Easy Steps.” Misryoum also notes an honorable mention in that documentary category for Anna Fitch and Banker White’s “Yo (Love Is a Rebellious Bird). ” a film celebrated for its inventive approach to memory and friendship.
