Severe weather impacting Week 2 game

Now, it is Pitt vs. Central Florida that is expected to get an unwelcome visit from Mother Nature.

Saturday’s ACC vs. Big 12 non-conference matchup, which was slated for an original 3:30 p.m. ET start at Acrisure Stadium, is likely to see a delayed kickoff due to inclement weather in the Pittsburgh area.

Both teams won their respective season openers in Week 1. The Panthers defeated Miami (Ohio) behind a record-setting day from sophomore quarterback Mason Heintschel, who tied a program single-game record for seven touchdown passes. The Knights took down Bethune Cookman 73-6 behind two rushing touchdowns from Landen Chambers.

• 4:01 p.m.: No update yet from Pitt on when Saturday’s game might start. It continues to pour in Pittsburgh.
• 3:28 p.m.: Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has reported that there has been an official delay to the start of the game between Pitt and UCF due to lightning in the area. The 30-minute clock will now be started and will restart for every strike within eight miles of the stadium.
• 3:15 p.m.: Pitt tells fans inside the stadium to take cover inside the stadium due to severe weather in the area, including lightning and gusty winds. No announcement of a delayed kickoff yet.
