Four-star cornerback Bryce Woods pledged to Virginia Tech during his official visit to Blacksburg, choosing the Hokies over a long list that included Ohio State, North Carolina, Auburn and more.

On Sunday, four-star cornerback Bryce Woods pulled up to Blacksburg on his official visit and, before the visit cycle could stretch any farther, committed to Virginia Tech.

Woods is a standout from Woodward Academy in Georgia. and he has been listed in reports under both Atlanta and College Park. Rivals lists him as the No. 206 prospect in the Rivals300. The 247Sports Top247 has him as the No. 204 overall player nationally, while the 247Sports Composite ranking places him at No. 270 nationally. That same Composite also slots him as the No. 30 cornerback in the class and the No. 27 recruit in Georgia. In other rankings, he appears as the No. 27 cornerback nationally and No. 20 among Georgia prospects.

Virginia Tech is getting a defensive back viewed as a consensus four-star recruit. with a 90 rating in the 247Sports evaluation system. During his recruitment, Woods drew more than 38 to 40 scholarship offers. His offer list has included Ohio State. North Carolina. Auburn. Missouri. NC State. Tennessee. Duke. Arkansas. Colorado. Mississippi State. and others.

The decision came with momentum behind it. Defensive coordinator Brent Pry and Virginia Tech’s staff view Woods as one of the most valuable defensive additions in the current recruiting cycle. Woods’ commitment also closed the door on a path that had looked more drawn out. He reportedly ended his recruitment during the official visit, despite previously scheduled trips elsewhere— including a planned trip to Ohio State—and a canceled Mississippi State visit.

Virginia Tech’s landing of Woods adds to its spring success in Georgia. Earlier in the spring, the Hokies secured Georgia running back Stanley Smart, keeping the state pipeline moving as the class took shape.

Right now, the focus shifts to how Woods’ commitment fits into Virginia Tech’s defensive plans and the roles the coaching staff expects him to develop for the next class, with Pry’s unit now adding a recruit who already carried national interest from major programs.
