About 9:35 p.m. Sunday. the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said a person involved in an argument near Whittier Boulevard and Leonard Avenue pulled out a gun and opened fire. wounding four people. Officials said two men were hit—described as the intended victims—and were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The sheriff’s department said the other two victims—the woman and a minor male—left the immediate area and contacted deputies elsewhere. They were later taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries as well.
By Monday morning, there was no other information available about the shooter.
The shooting came after crowds took to the streets following Mexico’s performance during the World Cup tournament. Mexico was eliminated Sunday night to England, losing 3-2.
