Flavor Flav Wins Approval for SHE Weekend in Vegas

Flavor Flav secured unanimous approval from the Clark County Commission for SHE Weekend in Las Vegas, clearing the way for a parade on July 16 and a free concert on Toshiba Plaza celebrating female Olympians in summer 2026.
When Flavor Flav walked into the Clark County Commission meeting on Tuesday. May 19. he wasn’t just pitching an idea—he was pushing it toward the finish line. After presenting the plan for SHE Weekend in Las Vegas. the board voted unanimously to approve a public parade and an outdoor concert that will shut down a stretch of the Las Vegas Strip.
The hip-hop legend’s vision. “Sports. Hospitality. & Entertainment. ” has been building momentum since it started as a tweet and then turned into what he’s now calling a movement. The event is set for summer 2026 and is expected to bring more than 100 Olympians to Las Vegas for a four-day celebration of female champions in sports.
The weekend officially kicks off on Thursday, July 16, with a parade down the strip. That procession will lead into a free concert on Toshiba Plaza.
Flav told the board he wanted to bring U.S. Olympic medal-winning athletes to Las Vegas, speaking directly about his own motivation. “I just want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity and I’m honored. you know what I’m saying. to be able to bring these United States Olympic athletes here to Las Vegas. I am a girl dad and I am a big supporter of women’s sports,” he said.
His introduction quickly turned comedic. Commission members interrupted to ask for his name “even though they knew it, just so that it was on the record.” Flav responded with a grin, clarifying, “Oh, I’m sorry! My name is Flavor Flav. William Drayton a.k.a. Flavor Flav. I’m sorry, guys.”
The story behind SHE Weekend has also been shaped by a political moment and an unexpected reaction. The idea for the Vegas celebration gained extra attention after Trump joked about feeling obligated to invite the women’s hockey team to the White House—an invite the team declined. Trump then said he’d “probably be impeached” if he didn’t invite the women alongside the men.
In the middle of all that momentum, the logistical pieces started to lock in. Thanks to the commission’s unanimous vote, Vegas will shut down the Las Vegas Strip for the free public parade and concert.
Flav is also rolling out fresh branding for SHE Weekend, with support from brand agency 72andSunny. The rapper confirmed on social media that the agency volunteered their services for the event.
Sponsors are filling in key gaps, too. MGM Resorts is offering complimentary rooms, hospitality and entertainment. Delta Airlines—serving as the official airline of TeamUSA—has offered to cover flights. The event is produced by Joe Lewis Company, the same production company associated with the Grammys and Oscars.
The celebrity pull doesn’t stop there. It had previously been announced that both the Backstreet Boys and Ed Sheeran invited the athletes out to their Vegas shows with private meet and greet opportunities.
One thread connects it all: Flav’s pitch moved from a social-media spark to a real-world permit. On May 19, the Clark County Commission didn’t just hear about the parade—it approved the shutdown and the free concert, turning a celebratory concept into something Las Vegas will actually host.
