In a press release. the Golden Arches described the pie as a “national treasure. ” tied to a recipe that originated in the ’60s from a family recipe. with American-grown apples wrapped in a golden. flaky. fried crust.
It’s not the only nostalgia play hitting counters this summer. Dairy Queen also rolled out a deal built for the kind of summers people remember. Timed to the start of summer. rewards members can get “classic lemonade stand prices. ” with 50-cent drinks available in the DQ app from June 15–21. The offer covers a Medium DQ Sparkler or a DQ Cooler in classic lemonade or a new hibiscus flavor—each priced at 50 cents.
At Burger King, the throwback comes in nugget form. Earlier this month, the chain brought back its crown-shaped chicken nuggets for the first time in 15 years. The Crown Nuggets are available alone or in meal form with sides and a drink, while supplies last.
Pizza Hut is leaning into something even more specific than a single item. Select restaurant locations are reviving elements of the chain’s classic dine-in experience to evoke ’80s and ’90s design. including red booths. a salad bar setup. red plastic cups. and checkered tablecloths. And then there’s Taco Bell, returning a menu favorite that has its own nostalgia built in. The Enchirito is set to come back starting Thursday, June 18, priced at $3.99, the fast food restaurant confirmed. The part burrito. part enchilada is made with a warm flour tortilla filled with seasoned beef. refried beans. and diced onions. smothered in Taco Bell’s signature red sauce. then topped with melted shredded cheddar cheese.
Put together, the message is hard to miss: this summer’s fast-food headlines aren’t about new recipes so much as revisiting old favorites—sometimes as deals, sometimes as limited-time returns, and sometimes as the full dining-room mood.
