Saturday night was supposed to be about the next song, the next burst of energy inside Madison Square Garden. Instead, it ended with a fall and a death.

Police said a 51-year-old concertgoer died after an apparent fall during rock band Goose’s concert at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night. In a statement, the NYPD said that at approximately 9:51 p.m. inside the arena, officers observed a 51-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive.

The fan plunged from an “elevated position,” police said. He was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officials did not disclose the distance of the fall.

Goose. a band made up of Rick Mitarotonda. Trevor Weeks. Peter Anspach. and Cotter Ellis. learned of the tragedy while performing. In a message to fans. the group said it was “heartbroken” to learn about the “tragic event that occurred at tonight’s show.” The band extended its “deepest sympathy to everyone affected” and thanked “the emergency personnel and venue staff who stepped in with care and support.”.

After the incident, venue staff cleared at least seven rows in the area where it happened, according to fan photos shared on social media.

Goose went on with its full show, performing its complete 16-song setlist and ending the concert shortly before midnight, according to music database Setlist.fm. The band’s Madison Square Garden run included the second of its two-night performances at the iconic New York City venue.

The group’s tour is part of their Summer 2026 schedule, which spans 27 concerts across 19 cities in the US and Canada. The show was also being livestreamed on Amazon Music.

  1. That’s so sad. I saw on TikTok people talking about where he fell, but nobody says how far. MSG staff cleared rows?? like was it crowd crushing or just a random trip.

  2. So they were “supposed to be about the next song” and then someone just falls mid-show… sounds like the band should’ve paused? Or maybe Goose’s stage was unsafe? I don’t even know what “elevated position” means.

  3. I’m gonna be honest, when they said it was livestreamed on Amazon Music, I immediately thought they’re gonna use the clip in some weird way. Also MSG always feels packed like sardines, so I’m surprised more incidents don’t happen. Hope his family gets answers, but the distance of the fall not being said is kinda sketchy.
