Atlanta is moving quickly to secure its offense’s centerpiece.
The Falcons have agreed to a four-year, $141 million contract extension with wide receiver Drake London, positioning him among the NFL’s highest-paid wideouts. Spotrac.com laid out the financial structure of the deal, while the Falcons have not publicly disclosed the terms.
Per Spotrac. London’s average salary through 2030 is $35.25 million. placing him third among league receivers behind Cincinnati’s Ja’Marr Chase ($42.25 million) and Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba ($42.15 million). The contract features $100 million guaranteed, and it could reach $150 million with incentives. London is also set to earn about $16.8 million in 2026 on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract.
Atlanta’s quarterback situation is where the extension feels most consequential. The Falcons’ deal with London is designed to give whomever wins the quarterback competition between Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa a long-term go-to target. Tagovailoa. who signed a one-year deal with Atlanta after his time as the former Miami Dolphins starter. has the early edge in organized team activities. Penix, meanwhile, continues his recovery from surgery on his left knee.
Still, Penix’s progress has impressed first-year coach Kevin Stefanski, bringing real optimism that he could be ready for the start of the season. NFL Network and ESPN were first to report the extension.
London’s production gives the Falcons plenty of reason to make the bet. The first-round draft pick in 2022 has totaled 309 receptions for 3,961 yards and 22 touchdowns across four seasons. His 2024 season brought career highs with 100 receptions for 1,271 yards and nine touchdowns. Last season, he recorded 68 catches for 919 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games.
The Falcons are also shaping their passing game around that core. Jahan Dotson was signed to a two-year deal in the off-season, and tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. remains another key target.
Atlanta has continued to emphasize the running game led by Bijan Robinson, but the team’s next step under Stefanski may come through more consistent passing punch—especially as it seeks its first winning season since 2017.
