Escaped Kenosha inmate recaptured in Racine

Jonathan Taylor, who escaped the Kenosha Correctional Center earlier this month, was arrested in Racine and is back in custody.

A man who escaped from the Kenosha Correctional Center earlier this month is back in custody.. Jonathan Taylor, 31, was arrested without incident by U.S.. Marshals in Racine around 9 a.m.. on May 13, according to a release from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections release.. He is currently in the Racine County Jail.. Taylor, who is from Racine, escaped from Kenosha Correctional Center, a minimum-security prison at 6353 14th Ave.. in Kenosha, just before 3:30

p.m.. Tuesday, May 5, according to the DOC.. Online court records indicate Taylor was sentenced in May 2024 to a year in prison followed by a year of extended supervision for fleeing or eluding an officer.. Taylor was at Kenosha Correctional Center to take part in educational and vocational programming.. He had a job inside the center as a laundry worker and did not participate in work release in the community.. Chris Ramirez covers courts
