Memorial Day weekends are supposed to feel like a reset—cozier couch time, fewer obligations, more turning-on-the-TV energy. This year. there’s a stack of fresh viewing options hitting multiple streaming services and networks. and they range from black-ops action and space missions to docuseries returns and a music awards night in full swing.
“Jack Ryan: Ghost War” is the first stop, streaming on Prime Video. After the hit show’s conclusion in 2023, John Krasinski returns as the famed Tom Clancy character in the follow-up film. Krasinski also co-wrote the movie and comes back as Ryan for another mission that reunites him with friends old and new to take on a black-ops unit gone bad. The film stars Sienna Miller, Wendell Pierce, and Michael Kelly.
If you want something heavier and more gory, “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” streams Friday on Peacock. The long-awaited project combines Quentin Tarantino’s pair of “Kill Bill” movies into one epic experience. It was released in theaters in December and is now arriving on Peacock—four-plus hours of martial arts mayhem for anyone who can handle the grind.
On the comedy side, “Ladies First” drops Friday on Netflix. It’s an adaptation of the French film “I Am Not an Easy Man.” In the new movie. Sacha Baron Cohen plays a chauvinistic executive who finds himself transported to a parallel Earth where women rule society. The flick also stars Rosamund Pike and Richard E. Grant.
For a more outer-space kind of escape, “Project Hail Mary” is available to rent or purchase via video-on-demand platforms. Ryan Gosling teams up with a rocky alien for a space-faring mission to save the world. Beyond its box office run, the film was lauded by critics. The Globe’s Odie Henderson awarded “Project Hail Mary” four stars. calling it “a lovely. bittersweet character study. a pas de deux between man and alien that elicits a surprising amount of emotions by the time the credits roll.”.
Music fans get their own holiday anchor: the American Music Awards return on Memorial Day. Hosted this year by Queen Latifah, the annual celebration will air live from Las Vegas Monday at 8 p.m. on CBS. and it will stream on Paramount+—live for premium subscribers. and available to watch the next day for essential plan members. For documentary-watchers who prefer their thrills darker. “The Yogurt Shop Murders: The Final Chapter” continues with a special new episode airing Friday at 9 p.m. on HBO and streaming the same day on HBO Max. The docuseries chronicles the horrific murders of four teen girls in Austin, Texas, during the early ’90s. The new episode also follows developments in the case by Austin police that came after the docuseries’ debut last year.
Kylie Minogue fans don’t have to wait long either. “Kylie” streams on Netflix as a three-part docuseries. It’s directed by Emmy winner Michael Harte, whose previous credits include “Three Identical Strangers” and “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie.”

Kill Bill on Peacock for Memorial Day?? nice, I guess I’ll be up way too late.
Is Jack Ryan: Ghost War like the old one? I saw something on TikTok and it said it was canceled or something? Not sure. Either way I’m probably gonna watch it on Prime cuz that’s where everything ends up.
I don’t get the whole “women rule” movie thing with Ladies First, like is it supposed to be serious? Sacha Baron Cohen always looks smug in every trailer I see. Also Memorial Day weekend is already stressful for me so I need less “parallel Earth” and more actual history.
Project Hail Mary being available to rent is kinda annoying tho, like why not just put it on Netflix if you want people to watch. And $4 hours of Kill Bill sounds like a crime sentence lol. Also “music and history” rollout… is that on HBO Max or Peacock? they never label it right, I hate when they make you click like 12 times.
