Dutton Ranch Renewed for Season 2 on Paramount+

Paramount+ has renewed Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone spin-off, Dutton Ranch, for a second season. Season 1’s first batch will end after the renewal news lands, with Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler set to return.

For Yellowstone fans still spinning in the wake of that last ride, Paramount+ just handed them the one piece of good news that makes the wait feel shorter: Dutton Ranch is officially renewed for Season 2.

The streaming platform confirmed the pickup for the Beth Dutton–Rip Wheeler era after the show’s record-breaking premiere and a handful of Texas-sized episodes. That renewal comes before the Season 1 finale. setting up what happens next for the Dutton Ranch lineup as the first batch of episodes heads toward its end.

Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly, and Rip Wheeler, played by Cole Hauser, are both set to return. The renewal also keeps Finn Little’s Carter in the picture as the series continues beyond the shadow of Yellowstone.

The timing matters. With Season 1 moving forward and the finale still ahead, this second-season commitment gives the Yellowstone universe more runway than fans usually get from a spin-off that had to prove itself on arrival.

The series, created by Chad Feehan, has leaned into character-driven storytelling while carving out its own rhythm. The show has notably been without Taylor Sheridan in the writers’ room. a shift the series has treated like an opening rather than a setback. Feehan’s effort has maintained the visual and narrative quality viewers expect from the Yellowstone universe. while also pushing the story in a more character-specific direction.

Even with Feehan’s exit ahead of the Season 1 premiere, the series has kept momentum. Dutton Ranch has gone to great lengths to keep the world feeling earned. while moving its core characters away from the Montana landscapes and down toward the U.S.-Mexico border. That relocation reshaped the stakes—Rip. Beth. and Carter all leave the mountain setting and head south to a border region described as ripe with narrative opportunity.

In the middle of that shift. the show has highlighted discernible arcs for three returning Yellowstone leads—Beth. Rip. and Carter—and for the fresh Rio Paloma newcomers. Beth, in particular, is positioned as more well-rounded than she’s been before. Carter has grown into his own. and Rip is treated as something of an anomaly: basically the same guy he was on Yellowstone. a continuity that’s “always worked” for him.

Dutton Ranch has also built out its supporting cast with big names who bring the same level of care associated with other Paramount dramas. Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Natalie Alyn Lind, J. R. Villarreal. and Juan Pablo Raba are part of the ensemble. joining a show that’s rooted in the lineage of 1883 and 1923.

Even Jai Courtney lands as a standout, playing the reckless, menacing, and all-around deplorable Rob-Will Jackson.

All of this is why the renewal feels less like a safe bet and more like a confidence vote. Dutton Ranch premiered with its first two episodes on May 15 on Paramount+—and now. with Season 2 locked in. it won’t have to fight for survival at the exact moment it’s trying to earn its place as the next big chapter.

The Yellowstone universe isn’t slowing down, either. Taylor Sheridan’s 1944 prequel remains in development, and Marshals has already been renewed for a second season on CBS. With those additional projects in the pipeline. Dutton Ranch’s Season 2 renewal keeps the franchise momentum moving forward—one season at a time. with Beth and Rip still very much at the center.
