Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser didn’t just leave Yellowstone behind — they carried their characters into a brand-new Dutton Ranch world. And this time, it’s not the Montana ghosts of the past that are chasing them. It’s a new battlefield in South Texas, where Beth and Rip are trying to build something that can survive.
The Paramount Network series premiered in 2018 with the fictional Dutton family at the center, and Yellowstone ended in 2024. Now the franchise is expanding again with Luke Grimes’ CBS show Marshals and Dutton Ranch, which is set to premiere in May 2026.
Dutton Ranch’s synopsis leans hard into the stakes: “As Beth and Rip fight to build a future together — far from the ghosts of Yellowstone — they collide with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire.” It goes on: “In South Texas. blood runs deeper. forgiveness is fleeting. and the cost of survival might just be your soul.”.
The countdown to the premiere has also come with behind-the-scenes chatter. Weeks before Dutton Ranch’s debut. Us Weekly confirmed that Chad Feehan would not return as showrunner after completing work on season 1. Puck News reported in April that Feehan. who created Lawmen: Bass Reeves with Taylor Sheridan. stepped away from Dutton Ranch after alleged friction with series stars Hauser and Reilly. among others. Sheridan and his producing partner. David Glasser. were allegedly more unhappy with how Feehan ran the production than with the scripts. No one has publicly addressed the speculation about the drama.
That turbulence is now part of the story around a show that will still ask viewers to tune in for the same reason they followed Yellowstone: people, power, and consequences.

Hauser plays Rip, Beth’s husband. Their love story was originally explored on Yellowstone.
