The next time travelers open the Airbnb app to find a place to sleep, they may also see everything else they need—groceries waiting on arrival, a car near their listing, and even nearby luggage storage locations.

This summer, Airbnb is adding new service categories designed to streamline trips, and it is going beyond its traditional homestays with a new option for travelers to book boutique and independent hotels through the platform.

Brian Chesky, Airbnb’s co-founder and CEO, framed the expansion around a simple promise. “The best trips help you explore, learn, and come home a little different than when you left. That’s what we’re building at Airbnb,” he said in a press release. And this summer. he added. the company is giving people “even more ways to do it—from incredible places to stay and boutique hotels that feel like Airbnb. to unforgettable World Cup experiences and services that make your trip easier.”.

The new trip services begin with rental cars. Airbnb says travelers can now book a car directly in the Airbnb app. with vehicles shown near their listing and suggestions for the right vehicle for their group. For anyone renting a car on Airbnb for the first time. the company says they will receive a 20% credit back toward a next stay. experience. or selected services.

Airbnb is also integrating grocery delivery. Through Airbnb’s partnership with Instacart, guests can order groceries during their trip or have them waiting at their Airbnb when they arrive in over 25 U.S. cities. Airbnb says guests get $0 delivery and $10 off an order of $50 or more.

Airport pickups are arriving too. Airbnb has partnered with Welcome Pickups, a private car service where a driver tracks a flight and meets passengers curbside after they land. Airbnb says the service is available in over 160 cities worldwide, and that Airbnb guests can save 20% on every ride.

For travelers carrying more than they planned, Airbnb says the app will show the nearest Bounce drop-off locations—over 15,000 locations in 175 cities. Airbnb guests receive 15% off.

Airbnb’s press release puts the scope in clear terms: “This is just the beginning of new services guests can book on Airbnb this year,” which suggests more categories could follow beyond the items listed.

More experiences are also being added. Airbnb already offers tours. classes and other experiences that can be booked during a trip or even at home. and the app recommends activities based on group size. This summer. the platform says it is adding thousands more experiences led by local experts across its most popular categories. including Landmarks—guides for attractions such as the Tower of London and the Taj Mahal—and food culture experiences through partnerships with Chef’s Table and Grand Central Market. described as behind-the-scenes access to food and beverage culture.

Airbnb is also bringing FIFA World Cup 2026 content in a format passengers can book. While tickets cannot be purchased through Airbnb, the company says travelers can book exclusive experiences, including a USA vs. Australia watch party with World Cup champions Abby Wambach and Julie Foudy.

Those experiences come with a key limitation: Airbnb says they can’t be booked with points in the way some hotel platforms offer points-based booking, as highlighted by the mention of other hotel platforms’ “Find” or “Experiences” programs.

The most visible expansion, though, is lodging itself. Over the better part of two decades. Airbnb says it has shifted from simple homesharing to a wide variety of vacation rentals. including everything from treehouses to B&Bs. Now it is taking another step with the introduction of boutique and independent hotels.

Airbnb says travelers can book thousands of hotels through the platform—properties “handpicked for its location. design and hospitality” with the intent that they “feel as homey as an Airbnb.” The hotels are currently available in 20 popular destinations around the world. including New York. London and Singapore. with plans to add more destinations throughout the year.

To encourage users to book those hotels through Airbnb, the company is offering additional incentives. If a traveler books a “featured hotel,” Airbnb says they can receive up to 15% credit toward their next Airbnb home. It also points to its price match guarantee: if a traveler finds a lower price for the same hotel anywhere else. Airbnb says they will get the difference as Airbnb credit.

Taken together, the changes move Airbnb’s app closer to an all-in-one travel hub—cars, groceries, airport transfers, storage, experiences, and now hotels booked directly on the platform.

Airbnb is clearly betting that convenience and choice inside one ecosystem will pull more of a trip into its own workflow. Whether it becomes a true loyalty destination. as some travelers may wish. is still open to debate—but the company’s next phase is unmistakable: Airbnb wants the whole journey. not just the place to land.
