Anne Hathaway Denies Facelift Rumors After ‘Loud’ Fan Speculation

Anne Hathaway moved quickly to shut down facelift rumors after fans noticed her new look. In an Instagram GRWM video posted after the Oscars in March, she showed a nonsurgical “trick” involving two braids at her temples—then told Elle this week that the specul
Anne Hathaway can’t quite remember the last time she thought about her face without it turning into a conversation—so she finally stepped in when the whispers got too persistent.
After the Oscars in March, the actress posted a “GRWM” video on Instagram. Fans had been looking at her and coming to the same conclusion: that she must have gone under the knife—or at least had a procedure done to stay looking youthful. Hathaway’s answer was simple and immediate. She pointed to a nonsurgical “trick” instead: her hairstylist makes two braids at her temples and pulls them back for an instant “facelift.”.
It didn’t end there. In a new interview for Elle this week. Hathaway was asked if the video was a pointed denial of the rumors. She didn’t frame it as a dramatic rebuttal. “I wouldn’t say pointed. But we’re at a time when people feel very confident in assuming what they think is fact. and sometimes what they think is accurate and sometimes it’s not.”.
Hathaway also explained why she decided to address it at all. Her usual approach, she said, is to keep her private life private. “My preference would be to never comment on anything and to just live in the mystery and not draw attention to myself. ” she told the magazine. But the speculation became impossible to ignore. “But the speculation has gotten so loud that you do feel the need to just get your truth out there.”.
She said she’s been thinking about the trade-off. too—whether she should have stayed silent and just enjoyed what makes her feel confident. “And I’ll probably always wonder, ‘Should I have posted that or not?. Should I have just kept going and done the thing that makes me happy and makes me feel more confident on the red carpet?’ But I felt like the conversation was becoming distracting.”.
When the conversation turned to what she may (or may not) have had done, Hathaway was equally direct. She insisted she hasn’t made a major “medical” decision about her appearance. “Also, by the way, these are huge medical decisions that people are presuming. I wanted to show that like, no, I didn’t make a huge medical decision. It’s just two braids.”.
Still, she left the door open for the future. “And by the way, the other thing about all this is, I might still get a facelift someday.”
Hathaway’s comments also reached back to earlier in her life, when she said her mindset was harsher. She recalled that “younger me” was scared, and the fear made her tough on herself. “One of the things about younger me is she was really scared. and I think that fear made me harsh with myself. ” she said. She even described how the idea makes her feel now. “I shudder at the thought that I might have inadvertently been harsh with other people while I was being harsh with myself. I actually get nauseous thinking about it.”.
In the end. what she offered wasn’t just a denial—it was a reminder that not every “transformation” is the result of surgery. For Hathaway, the answer came down to something as specific as hair being braided at her temples and pulled back. And for fans watching her, it was a moment that turned speculation into something she could finally control.

Facelift?? or just hair tricks… either way people are nuts.
So she did a “nonsurgical” thing with braids and that’s supposed to prove nothing was done? I mean… braids can’t do all that. People are acting like it’s magic.
I saw the video and I was like ok her temples look tighter, but I didn’t think about it that deep. The article says she only did the braids after the Oscars like March, so maybe it’s just lighting? Idk, celebrities always look different after events anyway.
This whole thing is dumb because Elle asking questions about her face is literally drawing attention to it more. Also “assuming what they think is fact”??? like the fans are the ones that started the rumor but she kinda fed it by talking about the “trade-off.” I swear it’s either a procedure or it’s a makeup/hair filter, can’t be both lol.
