Drea de Matteo’s move onto OnlyFans was already a headline for many viewers, but the details she shared during a recent podcast appearance added a new layer of scrutiny.
Speaking while her kids were apparently nearby, the actor—known for The Sopranos and Desperate Housewives—said her 13-year-old son helps with the work. De Matteo, 52, shares two children with musician ex Shooter Jennings: Waylon “Blackjack” Jennings, 13, and daughter Alabama, 16.
The admission came during an appearance on the Not Today, Pal podcast with Robert Iler and Jamie-Lynn Sigler.. During the discussion, de Matteo acknowledged that her children were “out there,” prompting her to apologize.. “Blackjack and Alabama.. My kids are out there.. I’m sorry guys.. I’m really sorry.. But they know,” she said.
Iler then added: “Before you start, your son was outside saying he edits your OnlyFans photos.” De Matteo replied, “Oh yeah. He’s like, ‘So what do you want me to do with the bikini line here?’ ”
The conversation then shifted to what her children do and do not see.. De Matteo said there are boundaries around the content and described going over it with them before anything is published.. “No.. But they don’t see the girl shots.. But I do go over that with them before I ever put them out…I was like. ‘Are you okay with this?’ Because it’s like. if I were to do it in a movie. because I would make out with girls in movies all day long before I’d even make out with boys.”
She also addressed how critics responded to her decision—especially to the idea that the platform was tied to her personal finances.. De Matteo said those commenters did not understand her situation, describing her work life as having changed drastically.. “I used to have a lot of money.. And then, all of a sudden, I went from being allowed to work to never being allowed to work again.. I was never the kind of actor that took jobs just to stay in the business.. I literally took jobs to feed my family.”
When people made “nasty comments” about why she would join, de Matteo said her response was: “Damn straight, I hope you’re never in the f*****g position I’m in. I take care of an entire family and a lot of other people who depend on me.”
The thread of that theme goes back at least to last September. when she spoke about the decision in an interview.. She said her children encouraged her to sign up to OnlyFans, adding that her daughter Alabama would also edit pictures.. “My kids were the ones that were like. ‘Do it.’ She’ll [Alabama] edit the pictures. too. because they want certain things that we haven’t been able to do.”
Taken together. the story moves through two linked pieces of the same personal timeline: de Matteo described her children being aware of her OnlyFans work. including her son’s role in editing. while she also said her choice was driven by a change in her ability to work and her need to support her family.
For now, her comments have reignited the debate around what teenagers should know about an adult subscription platform—and how a performer draws lines around exposure—at the same time she argues the decision was rooted in feeding a household when her career access shifted.
