Disney to limit bus, boat access from Disney Springs

Disney limits – Starting June 28, only Disney resort hotel guests and guests with booked hotel experiences will be able to use the free buses and watercraft running from Disney Springs to Disney resort hotels. The policy does not change free transportation from the theme park

The first sign of the change appeared where thousands of visitors drift in every day: Disney Springs, the Walt Disney World shopping, dining and entertainment complex that’s open to the public and offers free parking.

On June 16, new signage announced that starting June 28, visitors won’t be able to rely on the free resort buses and watercraft from Disney Springs unless they can show they belong there—either through a Disney resort hotel stay or a reservation for a booked hotel experience.

From June 28 onward, there will be two groups allowed to take the free transportation from Disney Springs to Disney resort hotels: guests staying at any Disney resort hotel, and guests with experiences booked at the hotels, such as dining reservations.

For many visitors. that matters because Disney Springs has long been a convenient gateway to other parts of Walt Disney World—even for people who weren’t sleeping in a resort hotel. The change directly affects that pattern. Guests who come to the properties for things like watching Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort or snacking on Mickey-shaped beignets from Port Orleans — French Quarter won’t be able to get there from Disney Springs without proof of a hotel stay or an experience reservation.

At the same time, Disney is drawing a clear line around what will and won’t change. Free transportation from the theme parks to resort hotels will continue to be available to anyone, with the new permanent policy applying only to leaving Disney Springs.

The decision was announced via signage on June 16 at Disney Springs, and the company said it will be reflected online in the coming days.

The practical shift is simple: if you’re planning to hop from Disney Springs to a resort for an evening treat or a waterside view. you’ll need more than a visit ticket—it will take a reservation or a confirmed stay. And for the kind of day-trip behavior Disney Springs has attracted for years. the walk. the ride. and the spontaneity may just become harder to pull off without planning ahead.

  1. I mean it says starting June 28 only hotel guests can use the free stuff from Disney Springs, right? But theme park transport stays open so… what are they even stopping? People will just drive over like always.

  2. This is crazy because Disney Springs is literally open to everyone and free parking is there. Like why act like it’s some private entrance? Also do they mean fireworks viewing too? My cousin said you can still take the boat if you just buy beignets there, but that sounds false.

  3. They’re gonna check if you have a dining reservation just to get on a boat? That’s gonna be a mess, people arguing with cast members in the heat. Next they’ll make you show your fridge for the Mickey waffles. I swear this is how they get money without saying it’s about money.
