Disney Springs bus checks may become lasting July norm

On a busy Disney Springs bus loop during Easter week, Cast Members stood ready with scanners and asked for proof before anyone boarded. MagicBands were scanned as guests waited for Walt Disney World resort hotel buses—an extra step that, for many, changed how smoothly the line moved.
Now Disney appears to be preparing to make that verification step stick.
WDWMAGIC sources say Disney is working to permanently resume reservation verification for guests boarding Walt Disney World resort hotel buses at Disney Springs. The plan follows a test during the Easter period. when Cast Members scanned MagicBands at the Disney Springs bus loop to confirm guests had a valid resort stay. dining reservation. or recreation activity before boarding.
The Easter trial was judged a success. The verification process helped free up capacity on the transportation system. and it also targeted a longstanding complaint: guests parking at Disney Springs and using Disney bus transportation to reach the theme parks while bypassing parking fees at the parks.
Based on information from WDWMAGIC sources, verification is expected to resume before the July 4 holiday week. From there, it is expected to become a permanent, standard operating practice.
For guests hoping to board resort hotel buses from Disney Springs, Disney is expected to require one of the following:
An active Walt Disney World resort hotel reservation.
A confirmed dining reservation at a resort hotel.
A confirmed recreation activity, such as a boat cruise.
Current plans call for the verification to run at Disney Springs only. Disney is also investigating whether the process could be expanded later—to other areas of the property and to other forms of transportation.
Still, the company has not made an announcement about the change and has not confirmed specific details. There is no exact start date available, and the information tied to the July 4 timing could change before any official rollout.
Disney previously ran a similar verification process around New Year’s before the more recent Easter trial, setting up a pattern of pauses and returns that guests may now see again as the summer crowds gear up.

So like… they’re gonna scan your MagicBand now every time? That’s gonna slow everything down, I can already tell.
Good. People keep trying to bus from Disney Springs to avoid parking fees at the parks, like it’s some loophole. If they actually make it permanent then cool, but Disney better not make it a hassle for real resort guests.
Wait I thought Disney Springs was already part of the resort? Like if you’re just eating there you should still be able to get on a bus… unless they’re saying “recreation activity” counts as literally anything? Half the time my plans get changed, so I’m confused how they’ll verify it.
They said it helped capacity and line movement which sounds nice, but Disney always does this then it turns into like 10 extra steps and everyone’s mad. Also July 4 timing? That’s gonna be packed. I’m already seeing people get blocked if their dining reservation is “pending” or whatever. Wish they’d just charge the parking fee once and be done with it.
