Judge rules Liv Morgan stalker not guilty

Almost a year after Liv Morgan was stalked by Shawn Chan, a U.S. judge in Florida ruled he was not guilty by reason of insanity. The court ordered United States Marshals to transfer him into ICE custody, with a path toward deportation to Canada.

Liv Morgan’s home life was supposed to stay private. In 2025, it didn’t.

The WWE superstar, whose real name is Gionna Daddio, was targeted by a man from Canada who visited her house as part of a stalking situation. Morgan later received help after the WWE contacted the FBI to assist her in getting away from that situation.

Now, nearly a year after the case began moving through the courts, the legal outcome has landed. The man identified as Liv Morgan’s stalker—Shawn Chan—has been found not guilty by reason of insanity.

A U.S. judge in the Middle District of Florida ruled on Monday that Chan. who was arrested outside of the WWE Performance Center in June 2025. was found not guilty by reason of insanity. The court decision leaves him facing the next step: he is set to be released into ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) custody.

As the verdict spread, details about what would actually happen next also came into focus. PWInsider shared a clarification on Chan after noting confusion about the outcome as described around the time of publication. The report said Chan “remains incarcerated in Hernando County. Florida. ” and that he will not be released because he is a Canadian citizen. The judge presiding over the case, PWInsider reported, ordered United States Marshals to facilitate Chan being transferred into ICE custody. PWInsider also said Chan is expected to be deported back to Canada.

The timeline now points to a hard transition rather than a clean exit: the stalking charges end with an insanity-based finding. but the process doesn’t stop there. Chan’s status moves from the county jail into immigration custody. with the court’s order effectively determining the route that comes next.

For Liv Morgan. the case has followed a brutal path—from a stalker reaching her home in 2025. to WWE and the FBI stepping in. to a June 2025 arrest near the WWE Performance Center. and finally to Monday’s courtroom ruling that reshapes the meaning of accountability while keeping the legal machinery moving.

  1. WWE better make sure she’s really safe. Judges always say “insanity” like it fixes anything. I don’t get how he can target her house and then just “not guilty.”

  2. Wait, I thought not guilty means he’s free free. But they’re saying he stays locked up in Florida until ICE takes him? Also why is this even in court if he’s already a Canadian citizen… doesn’t Canada handle it?

  3. This is one of those “legal outcome” stories that confuses me. Like they let him out but only into ICE custody which is basically jail but with paperwork?? And they said he was arrested outside the Performance Center, so was he even close to her or just near the building? Either way, hope Liv gets to have her privacy back.
