Delta adds LAX-Vancouver flights starting Nov. 21
Delta adds – Delta will bring back its Los Angeles–Vancouver nonstop on Nov. 21, with two flights daily between LAX and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) using an Airbus A319. The airline positions the route as its only nonstop from Southern California to Canada, years
On Nov. 21, Los Angeles travelers will have a new reason to plan their Canada trip sooner: Delta is restarting its nonstop service to Vancouver.
The SkyTeam Alliance carrier will connect Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) twice daily. operating the route with an Airbus A319. For Delta, the flight will be its only nonstop from Southern California to Canada. The airline last flew the LAX–YVR route in 2018.
Delta is also leaning into Vancouver at a time when its overall growth plans are being tested by the cost of fuel. In January, the carrier planned to grow capacity by roughly 3% in 2026 compared to the year before. That guidance was later suspended after energy prices spiked following the U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran at the end of February. In April. Delta CEO Ed Bastian said the airline was “meaningfully reducing capacity in the current quarter with a downward bias until the fuel situation improves.”.
The LAX–YVR route also plugs into Delta’s broader strategy of building connections through its partner network. Vancouver is a large base for Delta partner WestJet. and the city itself has a well-known reputation as “Hollywood North. ” nicknamed for its role as a hub of television and movie filming activity.
Delta’s Vancouver move lands alongside other additions from LAX. The airline launches new service to Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) on June 6 and began flights to Melbourne International Airport (MEL) in Australia in December. Beyond international expansion, Delta continues to add routes inside the U.S., including new service to Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport (STS) in California’s wine country from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). That announcement came just weeks after Alaska Airlines unveiled plans to fly the STS–SLC route.
The airline is also expanding on former Spirit Airlines routes, adding flights from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and Orlando International Airport (MCO).
Still, the comeback on LAX–YVR is arriving in a crowded market. Air Canada, American Airlines, Flair Airlines, United Airlines and WestJet already serve the route, according to Cirium schedules.
Delta’s decision places a clear bet on a single nonstop between Southern California and Canada—one it ended years ago—and asks travelers to choose it again, even as competition is already firmly in place.

Vancouver again?? About time, I guess.
Airbus A319 for LAX to Canada sounds kinda small, no? Like are they gonna oversell it or what. Also why is this only starting Nov 21, that seems random.
They’re calling it the only nonstop from SoCal to Canada like… didn’t Delta already do this before? I remember hearing something about them stopping because of oil prices but now they’re back. So is it just fuel got cheaper or did they decide the “Hollywood North” nickname is marketing genius.
Not surprised they add flights when they already suspended growth, kinda feels backwards. Fuel spiked after the Iran thing, right, so now they’re “meaningfully reducing capacity” but still adding LAX-Vancouver twice daily? Also isn’t Vancouver basically like, across from Seattle so I feel like people could just drive or take Alaska or whatever. Either way Delta better not ruin the seats like they usually do with baggage fees.
