Dabrowski and Stefani roar at Eastbourne, seal Wimbledon form

Dabrowski Stefani – Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani delivered a statement performance at the Eastbourne Open, defeating Miriam Skoch and Jesika Maleckova 6-1, 6-4 to take the doubles title and build confidence heading into Wimbledon as the No. 2 seeds.

Sunday morning at the Eastbourne Open looked like the kind of result that can move a Wimbledon draw.

Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and her doubles partner. Luisa Stefani of Brazil. finished the job in the WTA 250 final against the Czech duo of Miriam Skoch and Jesika Maleckova. The pair won 6-1. 6-4. striking with confidence and tightening the moments that mattered to secure the title in straight sets.

There were signs they weren’t perfect—double faults crept into the match—but the bigger story was how they used their openings. Dabrowski and Stefani made the most of their break point chances, converting five of their eight opportunities on the way to the win.

The serving numbers told a clear part of the story. They dominated on first serve. winning 80 per cent of their first-serve points. and they were equally effective when it came to holding the line overall. taking 63.5 per cent of their service points. It gave them control at the moments that decide doubles matches. especially against opponents who made the run from being unseeded.

Dabrowski and Stefani arrived at Eastbourne as the No. 1 overall seed, and they left as champions. Skoch and Maleckova, unseeded, advanced to the final anyway—confirming that the week’s momentum mattered more than rankings once the tournament began.

This was also the kind of timing players and coaches dream about. It marked the third win of the season for Dabrowski and Stefani. after titles at the Strasbourg International and the Dubai Open. Dabrowski, 34, has history at Eastbourne as well, having previously won the event in 2018 while partnering with China’s Xu Yifan.

Next comes Wimbledon, and the Eastbourne result adds a sharper edge to their preparations. Entering the grand slam as the No. 2 seeds, Dabrowski and Stefani will play Chile’s Alexa Guarachi and Poland’s Alicja Rosolska in the first round.
