Cubs’ Crow-Armstrong reveals cycle mindset after Rockies comeback

Crow-Armstrong mindset – Pete Crow-Armstrong hit for the cycle in a comeback 5-4 win over the Colorado Rockies at Wrigley Field on Monday night, and after the game he explained how a missed chance for the triple in his mind never took him off his at-bats.
The Chicago Cubs spent much of the 2026 season’s early run leaning the wrong way—jumping ahead in the NL Central standings before getting hit by a rough stretch that left them mostly falling flat. But on Monday night at home, they found a jolt they could build on.
Pete Crow-Armstrong powered a comeback 5-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Wrigley Field with the rarest kind of statement: he hit for the cycle.
He started it early with a leadoff solo shot, setting the tone for Chicago. Then in the bottom of the third, he followed that first swing with a triple to get things going again. Still, there was a sting attached to the moment—Crow-Armstrong did not score from that leadoff triple.
Once the game’s hardest cycle pieces were out of the way, he stayed locked in. In the fifth inning, Crow-Armstrong hit a double. Two innings later, in the seventh, he added a single—coming through with the back-to-back at-bats that finished off the set.
Afterward, history was right there on the horizon, and he didn’t pretend it wasn’t in his head. Speaking on the MLB Tonight booth, Crow-Armstrong said he’d been thinking about the milestone after his triple.
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thinking about it after the triple. The triple was the one I was waiting for [Saturday] in San Fran. So yeah, it absolutely squeaked into my brain. I was seeing the ball well tonight. I didn’t let the thought of that get in the way of having good at-bats. ” Crow-Armstrong told the MLB Tonight booth.
