Google’s new AI Mode information agents arrive for AI Ultra

Google has turned its “information agents” on for AI Ultra subscribers, allowing AI Mode to monitor blogs, news sites, and social platforms and send updates when something relevant changes. At I/O 2026, Search agents were announced, with Google saying informat
For AI Ultra subscribers, the wait is over: Google has started rolling out information agents inside AI Mode, and the pitch is simple—stop checking, let the agent watch.
The update lands after Google previewed the concept at I/O 2026. Back then, Google announced “Search agents,” designed to let people create AI agents for multiple tasks, and said it would begin introducing information agents in the summer. Now, the company has flipped the switch.
Robby Stein, VP of Product at Google Search, shared on X that information agents are now available for AI Ultra subscribers. In practice, users can ask AI Mode to keep them updated on something specific, and AI Mode will create an information agent to handle the tracking.
Google’s agent is meant to “intelligently keep track of information” across blogs, news websites, social platforms, and more. The goal is timing: when the agent spots a change or an update that matches the user’s query, it sends an update.
Google offered a concrete example. A user asks AI Mode to track sneaker collabs and drops from a set of favorite athletes. The information agent then sends an update through the Google app about a new sneaker announcement from A’ja Wilson. After that announcement, it also sends a follow-up notification once the sneakers actually go on sale.
Google says the feature can be useful beyond shopping. The company points to apartment hunting and keeping up with sneaker releases. along with other kinds of watching—such as getting notified when a favorite artist announces a concert in a specific city. or when tickets for an upcoming movie go live.
Where this could change daily habits is in the friction it removes: instead of repeatedly searching for the next update yourself, the agent is designed to do the monitoring and deliver notifications when something matters.
Availability is also tied to Google’s subscription tiers. Information agents are available for AI Ultra subscribers in all AI Mode languages and markets. Google also indicated that AI Pro subscribers will likely get access to search agents soon. and that agents will expand to more users in the summer.
Right now, Google has taken an idea introduced at I/O 2026 and made it tangible for the first group paying for AI Ultra—turning AI mode from a tool you prompt into something that watches in the background and returns when the moment arrives.

So it’s like Google stalking you for sneakers now? Cool I guess.
Wait this is only for AI Ultra? I thought “AI Mode” was already in the app… now I have to pay more to get updates? That’s kinda wild.
I don’t get why they need “agents” to monitor blogs and social. People already watch stuff. Also if it’s tracking my query, does that mean it’s reading every post I like?? Like my feed gonna get weird.
This is gonna be a nightmare for apartment hunting. Like first they tell you there’s availability, then the agent “intelligently keeps track” and you miss it anyway. Plus summer rollout means it’ll break for everyone until then… I can feel it. Also they keep saying I/O 2026 like that’s normal, but it’s not even 2026 yet right? So confusing.
