Chicago watchdog – A police watchdog is investigating a Tuesday evening shooting involving a Chicago officer in southwest suburban Country Club Hills, where federal agents were also on scene.

Investigators were still working the scene Tuesday evening in southwest suburban Country Club Hills after a shooting involving a police officer, with the Chicago Civilian Office of Police Accountability confirming an investigation.

The incident was reported to be unfolding at 118th Street and Loretto Lane, but no further details were released about what led up to the shooting. The Country Club Hills police and fire departments, along with the Chicago Police Department, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability—an agency that investigates shootings involving Chicago police officers—issued a statement confirming it was looking into the matter. The agency also did not respond to a request for comment.

Federal involvement was visible on the ground. Several federal agencies, including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, were on scene, according to a Chicago Sun-Times photographer.

Not long after 8 p.m., the photographer reported seeing a woman in handcuffs being handed over to Country Club Hills police by FBI agents. The circumstances of the arrest were unclear.

For residents in Country Club Hills, the night quickly became more than just an investigation. With multiple agencies arriving and no details immediately coming from local or Chicago police, the scene left a familiar but unsettling uncertainty—what happened, and what happens next.
