Chatham-Kent Barnstormers stumble as Brantford win late

The Barnstormers (7-12) fell 3.5 games behind the final playoff spot in the Canadian Baseball League. They continue their five-game road trip Sunday at the Toronto Maple Leafs. On Friday, Greyson Barrett and Yushin Ohta each had two hits and three RBIs for the Barnstormers. Barrett leads the league with 32 RBIs. The Barnstormers scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning and four more in the fifth for an 11-9 lead. They were up 13-10 until the Red Sox scored four in

the bottom of the seventh. Thomas Green had two hits, three runs and an RBI in the leadoff position, Evan Morrison added two RBIs and two runs, Kian Johnston had two RBIs, and Spencer Morin and Iyad Ansari each had two hits. The Barnstormers’ 13 hits included just two for extra bases: doubles by Austin Gurney and Ansari. Barnstormers starting pitcher Dakota Parsons was pulled after giving up eight runs, all earned, on five hits and a walk in 1.1 innings. He hit four batters.

Parsons has a 19.50 ERA (13 earned runs in six innings) in two starts since winning the league’s pitcher of the week award. Aden Ryan (2-4) took the loss after allowing six runs, four earned, in five innings. The Barnstormers visit Brantford again Wednesday, the London Majors on Friday, July 3, and the Welland Jackfish on Saturday, July 4. Their next home game is Tuesday, July 7, against the Majors at 7:35 p.m.

  1. I don’t get how they were up 13-10 and then boom 4 runs. Like did they just stop playing in the 7th? Also who even is that pitcher Parsons, 19.50 ERA is wild.

  2. Replying to Marcus Reynolds—yeah I mean if he got pulled after 1.1 innings then that’s basically the whole game right there. But it says all earned, so the defense was also trash? Idk, the article mentions only 2 extra-base hits like that’s the reason too. Seems more like Brantford caught fire late.

  3. Greyson Barrett having 32 RBIs and they still lose… baseball is so dumb sometimes. Also they’re on a road trip at Toronto Maple Leafs?? That’s hockey though so why is it in here lol. Maybe they meant Toronto Blue Jays? Confusing headline stuff.
