Chace Crawford and P.J. Byrne Team Up Again

Chace Crawford and P.J. Byrne are set to play brothers in Prime Video’s upcoming black comedy series We Were Once Men, which is currently in development.

Chace Crawford and P.J. Byrne are stepping back into familiar territory—this time not as enemies, but as brothers.

The actors. who previously starred together on The Boys. have signed on for the upcoming series We Were Once Men at Prime Video. The project is currently in development, and details about the plot are being kept under wraps for now. What has been shared is the tone: the show is described as a satirical black comedy about male identity in collapse.

Crawford. 40. and Byrne. 46. will play brothers among a group of men seeking to rediscover their purpose at the radical Reclaim Retreat. The retreat, according to the series description, promises the transformation of the modern man. Along with starring in the series, Crawford and Byrne will also executive produce.

The script is being written by Matt Berns, who has worked on both The Boys and its upcoming prequel series Vought Rising.

Their onscreen chemistry has a history behind it. Crawford and Byrne first worked together nearly a decade ago, starring in the 2017 thriller movie Eloise. They later reunited on The Boys. where Crawford’s character Kevin Kohler/The Deep had a longstanding grudge against Byrne’s Adam Burke—an energy that makes the new “brothers” setup feel like a deliberate pivot.

For now. Prime Video is keeping the rest of the story quiet as We Were Once Men moves forward in development. But with Crawford and Byrne returning to collaborate again—this time around a retreat promising a reinvention of “the modern man”—the series is already drawing attention for the contrast it promises to deliver.

  1. So are they actually playing brothers or is this like, “brothers” in the marketing sense? Prime Video always hides the good details.

  2. I swear this is just The Boys but with different names again lol. Like same actors, same vibe, now it’s a “retreat” show? Idk feels recycled.

  3. Brothers… after being enemies on The Boys? That’s funny but also kinda predictable. If the plot is about male identity collapsing, sounds like something that’s gonna get cancelled in season 1.

  4. Reclaim Retreat?? Is that like a cult thing? I didn’t even read all the words, just saw “transformation” and “modern man” and my brain went straight to some weird self-help scandal. But hey Chace Crawford looks like he can do dark comedy.
