Snowfall Spinoff Lands Name, Premieres Later This Year

FX and Hulu’s upcoming Snowfall spinoff, previously untitled, has been named “The Drop: A Snowfall Saga.” Starring Gail Bean and Isaiah John, it premieres later this year, with international availability on Disney+.
He’s the kind of man who built his life on control—until everything slipped. In the final stretch of Snowfall. Franklin Saint spirals into alcoholism after Teddy McDonald. played by Carter Hudson. is killed by Franklin’s mother. Cissy Saint. Franklin loses his $73 million fortune. along with his wife and their unborn child. ending the series homeless and wandering the streets.
That ending is now shaping what comes next.
The untitled Snowfall spinoff series is no longer untitled. The series, starring the mothership’s Gail Bean and Isaiah John, is named The Drop: A Snowfall Saga. It will premiere later this year on FX and Hulu and will be available on Disney+ internationally. The spinoff picks up shortly after the conclusion of the original show.
The project has been moving for a while. The spinoff was put in development in 2023 as Snowfall’s six-season run came to an end on FX. It was picked up to series in November 2025.
Set in ‘90s Los Angeles. The Drop: A Snowfall Saga follows Snowfall characters Wanda (Bean) and Leon (John) as they fight to take West Coast rap mainstream while gang wars erupt. The series also centers on record labels looking to exploit hip hop culture for their own gain—an angle that mirrors the industry pressure baked into the original show’s rise-and-collapse energy. just from a new corner of the same world.
The cast also includes Asante Blackk, Peyton Alex Smith and Simmie “Buddy” Sims III. Mykelti Williamson, Nicki Micihelleaux, Brandon Mychal Smith, Isidora Goreshter, Eric Balfour, Richard Portnow, Zaire Adams, Demetrius Grosse and Snowfall alum Quincy Chad are also part of the series.
The Drop: A Snowfall Saga is executive produced by Malcolm Spellman and Snowfall producers Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Julie DeJoie, Michael London, Trevor Engelson and Paul Garnes. The series is produced by FX Productions.
