The Los Angeles Rams have agreed to a new five-year contract with defensive end Myles Garrett, spanning 2026 through 2030. The deal includes a $35.7 million signing bonus, guarantees totaling $37 million at signing plus $62 million guaranteed for injury at sig
Myles Garrett’s next chapter with the Rams is set in ink and numbers that matter—especially the part that becomes fully guaranteed in 2027.
The defensive end has agreed to a five-year contract covering 2026 through 2030. It replaces the deal Garrett had signed in 2025 with the Browns, without adding any new years. The agreement comes with a reported signing bonus of $35.7 million, and a base salary of $1.3 million in 2026, fully guaranteed.
From there, the contract is built with option bonuses and injury guarantees that decide when the financial risk shifts. In 2027, there is a $30.145 million option bonus. That figure is guaranteed for injury at signing and becomes fully guaranteed in 2027. The 2027 base salary is $1.345 million, also guaranteed for injury at signing and fully guaranteed in 2027. On top of that. Garrett has a 2027 per-game roster bonus totaling $510. 000—guaranteed for injury at signing and fully guaranteed in 2027. but described as something that must be earned.
The same structure continues in later seasons. The 2028 option bonus is $19.49 million, guaranteed for injury at signing and fully guaranteed in 2027. His 2028 base salary is $1.345 million, again guaranteed for injury at signing and fully guaranteed in 2027. The 2028 per-game roster bonus is another $510,000 total, guaranteed for injury at signing and fully guaranteed in 2027, but must be earned.
In 2029, Garrett’s option bonus is listed at $21.49 million, with an offseason roster bonus of $8 million. His 2029 base salary is $10 million, and his 2029 per-game roster bonus is $510,000 total. In 2030. the option bonus is $16.49 million. with an offseason roster bonus of $8 million. a base salary of $15 million. and a per-game roster bonus totaling $510. 000.
Taken as a whole, the five-year deal averages $35.8 million at signing, and the total payout from 2026 through 2030 is the same total payout Garrett had under his prior contract with the Browns.
Money-wise, the key trigger points sit in the guarantees. Of the total amount, $37 million is fully guaranteed at signing. Another $62 million is guaranteed for injury at signing. The payments become fully guaranteed in 2027.
When compared to his prior contract, one number drops: the 2027 guarantee decreases by $10.7 million. Another increases: the 2028 guarantee rises by $7.2 million.
For the Rams, there’s also a practical decision embedded in the salary structure. As a practical matter, it’s described as a three-year deal with team-held options for 2029 and 2030. The $8 million roster bonus in each season—2029 and 2030—will force a quick call on whether to keep Garrett through the end of the contract window.

Wait so they paid him like 35 million just to… show up? Football contracts are wild.
So this replaces the Browns deal but he didn’t add any new years? I’m confused like did he already sign something and they just switched teams? Either way 30M option bonus in 2027??
Honestly “fully guaranteed in 2027” sounds like he can just chill for two years then get paid no matter what. That’s what it reads like to me. Also why is there injury guarantee at signing like they’re planning for him to get hurt already lol
As a Rams fan I love it, but that $510,000 per-game roster bonus thing is weird wording. Is it like $510k total or per game? Because it says total, but then “must be earned” like come on just pay the man. Also 2026 base salary $1.3 mil fully guaranteed??? seems too low for Myles Garrett
