Celtics and Heat push bids for Antetokounmpo

For more than a year, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s name has been treated like it could change cities at any moment. The rumblings started at least as far back as last April, when ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the Greek forward was “open-minded” about leaving Milwaukee.

Now, the pursuit is starting to look less like background noise and more like a bidding war. The Celtics and Heat have emerged as the teams most prepared to match what the Bucks are said to want in return for a homegrown superstar who helped Milwaukee win its first title in 50 years in 2021.

Miami’s reported offer is built to move quickly and to move big. The package includes Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and the No. 13 pick, per Stein. He added that the Heat are presumed to be “prepared to surrender additional draft capital and potentially more players” in an Antetokounmpo deal.

Boston’s path, as it’s described, runs through a different centerpiece: Jaylen Brown. Stein reported the Celtics have a “real shot” with an offer centred on Brown. and the Bucks are even considering the deal without a third-team facilitator. The No. 27 pick would likely be part of the framework, and Milwaukee reportedly is interested in Spanish guard Hugo Gonzalez.

All of it is being shaped by what the Bucks have asked for—because this isn’t a standard star negotiation. Antetokounmpo isn’t just another All-Star; he’s a nine-time all-star, a two-time MVP, and the 2021 Finals MVP. The urgency around his future also comes from how abruptly the season changed for him last year.

On the court. Antetokounmpo averaged 27.6 points on 62.4 per cent shooting. along with 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists over what ended up being a career-low 36 games with Milwaukee. But the timeline of his health problems fed the tension. He suffered multiple calf and ankle issues early in the schedule before a left knee hyperextension against the Indiana Pacers on March 15.

That injury wasn’t just another line on an injury report. It ended with a public dispute with the Bucks, adding a human layer to the business side of the negotiations—one that makes the decisions from Miami and Boston feel less theoretical and more immediate.

The sequence is stark: two teams willing to offer young talent and high picks are now positioned as the serious threats to Milwaukee’s hold on its franchise icon. while the Bucks insist on a haul commensurate with what he’s meant to the organization. Health history. a visible breakdown in trust. and the sheer scale of what’s being proposed are all feeding the same question—whether Milwaukee’s price can be met. and how quickly the next chapter starts.

  1. Heat offer sounds crazy, like Herro AND Ware AND Jaquez?? Idk how Milwaukee doesn’t just hang up. Also why is there always a No. 13 pick like it’s a magic spell lol

  2. Wait Jaylen Brown would be the centerpiece? I thought Brown was already injured or whatever. Not saying it can’t happen, I’m just confused why ESPN keeps saying he’s “open-minded” about leaving like that means Bucks lose automatically. Bucks even considering no third team?? that part sounds fake

  3. Honestly I feel like this is all cap until Giannis literally posts something. Like “open-minded” could mean anything, and now it’s a bidding war? The Celtics package centered on Brown but then they say Milwaukee wants Hugo Gonzalez?? Who even is that, like a YouTube guy or something. This is why I don’t watch trades, it’s just random numbers and names.
