Rod Stewart nearly faints, pauses Utah show for oxygen
Rod Stewart paused his Friday night concert in West Valley City, Utah after nearly fainting onstage, taking oxygen from a tank placed near him as the crowd cheered. He later said, “The show must go on.”
Rod Stewart grabbed for support as he sang at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater in West Valley City on Friday night—then signaled for help.
In footage shared from the incident, Stewart was seen gripping surfaces for stability before motioning a crew member over. The crew member arrived with an oxygen tank and placed a mask over Stewart’s nose and mouth. While he inhaled, the crowd is heard applauding and cheering for him.
After he recovered, Stewart told the crowd, “The show must go on.”
The reason for the oxygen break was not immediately clear. Many people posting about the moment online pointed to the venue’s elevation—West Valley City sits at 4,300 feet above sea level.
Stewart, 81, is currently touring the U.S. on his One Last Time tour. His next scheduled performance is July 31 at the Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York.
The oxygen pause comes after another health disruption during the same tour. TMZ reported that Stewart had recently been sidelined by laryngitis, which led him to cancel a show in San Diego.
Representatives for Stewart did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Oxygen tank at a concert?? Dang.
They were cheering while he was basically getting medical help, seems kinda wild. I guess altitude really does mess with people? My uncle can’t do Denver without feeling weird.
Wait so he fainted because of the laryngitis?? Like your throat goes numb and then you pass out? Not even sure, but I feel like venues should’ve warned folks about elevation or something. Also 81… respect but maybe stop touring.
The show must go on… sure, but why does it sound like the crew just happened to have oxygen ready like it’s a regular thing? TMZ says laryngitis but then it’s an oxygen mask, so what was the actual issue? Elevation at 4300 feet is like not that high to me, I don’t get it.
