Cassie didn’t just step away from the spotlight after Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial. In court filings tied to her ongoing legal fight, she says she has also stepped away from the United States.
In documents filed May 1 and obtained by MISRYOUM on Tuesday, June 2, Cassie—whose full name is Casandra Ventura—described her living status in her lawsuit against male escort Clayton Howard. The singer, 39, declared she is “not a resident of California.”
The filing goes further. It says Cassie now lives “outside of the United States” and “does not intend to move back.” The court document also states it would be “significantly more convenient” for her to “travel to New York. ” where her legal team is based. instead of flying to California for matters connected to the case.
No additional details about where Cassie is currently residing were included in the documents at the time of publication. MISRYOUM has reached out to Cassie’s spokesperson for comment.
The timing adds another layer to the case. Cassie’s relocation comes roughly one year after she took the stand in Diddy’s highly publicized trial. In September 2024, Diddy was indicted on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has denied all accusations and pleaded not guilty.
During proceedings held in 2025, Cassie testified about the alleged nature of their relationship. The two dated on and off for 11 years, ending for good in 2018. Cassie previously claimed in a 2023 lawsuit that Diddy sexually assaulted and physically abused her. Diddy denied the allegations before the matter settled out of court within a day of her filing.
In the end, the jury’s verdict left some charges standing and others falling away. Diddy was found guilty of two counts of transportation and acquitted on the remaining charges. He is currently serving a four-year prison sentence.
At the time of the trial, Cassie was pregnant with her and husband Alex Fine’s third child—a son whose name has not been publicly revealed. The couple are also parents to daughters Frankie, 7, and Sunny, 3.
While Cassie’s legal paperwork now places her outside U.S. jurisdiction in practical terms, her personal statements around the trial’s close have reflected a different emotional direction. Fine also addressed the moment publicly in May 2025. saying. “Over the past five days. the world has gotten to witness the strength and bravery of my wife freeing herself of her past. ” in a statement shared in his name as the MobLand actor. He continued. “There has been speculation online surrounding how it must feel for me to sit there and listen to my wife’s testimony. I have felt so many things sitting there. I have felt tremendous pride and overwhelming love for Cass. I have felt profound anger that she has been subjected to sitting in front of a person who tried to break her.”.
