NASA briefing previews wrist joint swap on Canadarm2

LONGUEUIL, QC, June 22, 2026 /CNW/ – On June 25 at 2:00 pm ET, NASA will hold a technical briefing about an upcoming spacewalk to replace a wrist joint on Canadarm2. The spacewalk is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30, at approximately 8:35 am ET. Experts from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and NASA will give a preview of the spacewalk from NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. Wednesday, June 24, at 5:00 pm. To ask a question, media must dial in no later than 15 minutes before the start of the briefing. United States-based media who want to attend in person must contact the Johnson newsroom by the same deadline.   1. I don’t get why they need a briefing for it, just do the spacewalk. Also isn’t Canadarm2 on the ISS already? Feels like they’re making a big deal out of something small.

  2. Wait, wrist joint swap sounds like a regular robot repair but they’re doing it outside?? Is this like for NASA’s new robot hand they’re putting on the capsule or something? I saw “Canadarm2” and assumed it was on a different station.

  3. June 30 at 8:35am ET… so like 5:35am my time? I tried to follow the email thing but it says contact jsccommu@mail.nasa.gov and I’m like wait is that real or a typo. Also “technical briefing previews” makes it sound like they’ll show the whole spacewalk, but it’s probably just talking. Either way I hope they don’t screw up the wrist part lol
