Cambridge man Xavier Bautista killed in early shooting

Cambridge man – Cambridge police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office are investigating a fatal shooting near Broadway and Norfolk Street after emergency responders found Xavier Bautista, 32, dead on Saturday morning.

Cambridge police say a man was found dead after a gunshot early Saturday morning, and investigators are still trying to piece together what happened between 4:30 a.m. and when the body was discovered.

Around 5:30 a.m., Cambridge Emergency Communications received a call about a person lying on the ground near the intersection of Broadway and Norfolk Street in Cambridge. When police and paramedics arrived, the man had suffered a gunshot wound and was declared dead at the scene.

Prosecutors say investigators identified the man as Xavier Bautista, 32, of Cambridge, and determined he was shot shortly before 4:30 a.m. His body was located at around 5:30 a.m. by a pedestrian who called 911.

Cambridge police, Massachusetts State Police detectives, and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office are actively investigating the circumstances of the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to call Cambridge police at 617-349-3300.

  1. Just saw this on my feed. 4:30 to 5:30 doesn’t seem that long but somehow they still don’t know anything. Smh I hope they catch whoever did it.

  2. Broadway and Norfolk… isn’t that near like a bunch of apartments? I’m not saying it’s impossible but I feel like somebody would’ve heard shots. Also they said “found dead after a gunshot” like… okay, but was it confirmed the time? Feels weird they don’t have more details.

  3. Another Cambridge shooting, what is going on with Massachusetts lately? They always say “still piecing together what happened” like that explains everything. If the pedestrian called at 5:30, couldn’t cameras or something show who was around before 4:30? Idk, I just hate that Xavier Bautista is the one who didn’t make it.
